There are no chroniton devices YET.

What about a replaceweapon that automatically activates a self-destruct sequence that has a failure rate?  Once the ODF has been replaced by an invulnerable ODF, the self-destruct sequence will activate.  This will simulate the fail rate.  If the self-destruct goes off, that means that the supspace chroniton field has collapsed in on the ship.  If the self-destruct doesn't go off, that means that the subspace chroniton field is stable.  The self-destruct will reactivate every 10 to 15 seconds.  Can a selfdestruct weapon be triggered automatically?

i think optec means that there are no plans to introduce chroniton technology into fleetops. :)

yep. chronitons seem to be quite common, emitted by cloaking generators or warpcores, so we have no intenions to add chroniton-based weaponry :) perhaps for a Krenim NP faction some day

Since the Krenim Timeship is on the list, chroniton-based weapons would be a logical (if distant) addition.

The Tereanan Empire mod is going to use chroniton-based weapons for almost everything.

Is this for your mod or FO?

His mod. There's no Tereanan Empire in FO

Nice idea - 50 to 70% failure chance is good, too.  Invincible yes.  30 seconds...max.

I'm building the Tereanan Empire for Fleet-Ops.

The reason i asked is because you placed it in ideas and feature requests not in the modding section so its really in the wrong place.

Well, the only easy and reliable way to counter chroniton weapons is to have a multi-layer shielding system.  In fleet-ops, only the Descent has that technology.  Is the damageMode ODF command multi-lined like the other weapon commands?

The Descent's multilayer shielding is simply aesthetic.

DamageMode as far as I know is not multiline, but that's easy to test.

The Descent's shield is a passive, a passive the the Dominions Mixed-Tech Carrier (I'm sure it's the carrier) also shares. It even shares the shield hit linked to the passive.

How about a 10% chance of failure for the first few seconds, but the chance of failure increases with extended use?  Use it too long, and the ship is destroyed by the subspace chroniton field collapsing in on the vessel.
