foreground things can be put at negative heights too. background objects can be placed anywhere i think. the blocking triggers will deal with blocking.

How many foreground things go to negative numbers when placed without having to be moved in the settings? I don't recall any.

I know you said map editor, but I mentioned moving them under the grid without editing. My last 2 post mentioned default location without setting changes. As in where they automatically go when you put them on the map.

The move thing would work properly in stock...

Is there any way to re-ad 3-d. It doesn't seem like it could be that complicated to create a method.

If not...i sense a future mod request.

If there no way to take fleet ops and add the 3rd dimension from stock back in?

I've tried through code but I find the best way to put massive ships below the battlefield is by physically lowering them below zero on the X,Y,Z axis in a model editor such as MS3D, and then keeping the root hardpoint at zero. Here's a sample of the trick from my mod:

yeah, thats what I thought.  unfortunately, you would need access to the actual 3d object to do it...

I've never done a model. If i took Starfoxes Super Star Destroyer, how hard would it be to lower it beyond the origin?

you would have to get the raw 3d object, like I said.  Meaning, you would have to ask for it. :sweatdrop:

Is there any way to add engines to a background object. As in could i make it a background object and have it move?

No, you'd have to remove the 'background object' status.

Really, if you could just edit the model itself, you wouldn't have a problem.  just give it really slow physics and you'd be fine.  I think you are pretty much out of luck if you can't edit the model.

If you could get permission from the creator to edit the model for personal use I might be able to lower it for you.

Actually, I know the author, and could ask for you if you want,
