I'm having an issue I am hoping you all could help with. Recently, filefront released StarFox's very beautiful Executor Class Super Star Destroyer. The ship is a beast. Because i'd like to give her escorts, I'd like to set her BELOW the playing field much like shown in this Empire at War picture Image

I've tried making it a classlabel = background_obj..............................................resulted in Epic fail
I've tried adding the command for the wormhole which sets it below the grid........resulted in fail

Any suggestions?

I would try copying the odf from the Argus-array.  Make sure to add it to the map editor list as well B)

Oh, btw.  Great idea! :thumbsup:  It sounds really awesome

Hmm... are you wanting to be able to controll it also?  that could cause issues.

But of course, i must make the alpha quadrant see the scale the Imperial ships

Are you sure you want that in battle? I don't think the Empire could get over it's inevitable fate...

It is pretty impressive when i play and i see Acclamators, Venators, Interdictor and Imperial Star Destroyers roll into combat.

I cannot figure out how to set it below the playing field though. One would think you could just place it like a wormhole but it didn't work.

Did you try the code used by the Borg Transwarp gate from stock?

//place the object below the combat area
moveBelowCombatArea = 1
distanceBelowGrid = XX

So you do want to control it?  Hmm...  Well I noticed that the actual planets themselves have their models adjusted so that they are below the 0,0,0 mark.  but there could be a code that could do it for you i guess...

No such luck, is there a limit to the number you can set below grid?

it constructed below the grid but did not stay that way when completed. We are getting closer though.

no ship can stay with negative height. any move order will automatically go to height of 0. fleetops has removed the third dimension for move orders. objects can still be at different heights, but any move order will force a ship back to 0

but if a planet can be below build height why can't a ship?

well the ship can start out at negative height, but any move order will bring it back to 0.

planets never get move orders so they dont move.

They're background objects, ships are foreground objects. The ARGUS Arrat is the same.

any ship can be put at a negative height using map editor.

but when its given a move order it will move back up to height 0.

so your ship can be below the grid, it just cant move around below the grid.

I know, I've tried messing with the settings in the editor before. That doesn't change that background objects exist in the background, while foreground things default to the grid.
