First time post, long time modder of Armada 1 and has been a big hobby of mine on and off for the past decade or so. Recent hardware issues have required me to stop tinkering with Armada 1 (because it isn't compatible with modern systems) so I've been missing this from my life. After I found out that A2 works as a mod for FlOps I've downloaded the A2 Classic modpack and have started tinkering with it (I always had difficulty getting into A2 because everything dies too easily, but I've since started altering the stats to make ships a little less glass-jawed).

I've been playing FLOps for a few years as well and can say I'm impressed with all of the crazy work you guys have done to make the game possible. What I miss is a single player campaign to toy with that as of yet isn't in FlOps and have turned to modding A2 classic.

The problem I'm having is that I'm not particularly fond of the stock A2 GUI and I personally adore the lovely design you guys have made in FlOps. Essentially what I'm asking is, how can I combine the gameplay mechanics and campaign of Armada 2, with the crisp GUI and look of Fleet Operations? I know the A2 classic mod is built on the bones of FlOps but I've tried replacing the GUI .spr files with the ones from the FlOps sprites folder and the game crashes. I already followed the suggestion made on "Hitchhiker's Guide to Fleet Operations", and added the #include parameter on the specified files in the "Misc" folder. What else can I do to carry over the visuals from the parent directory? (Using FlOps models isn't though, I've just been using the baseName command on ships to redirect to their more modern counterparts).

...And before you guys ask, although I love FlOps, modding it is a nightmare. I've tried. :P Dealing with 10 different odf files for the same ship (because of avatars and rank-ups) is a bit too much for me to handle. :sweatdrop: I like to tinker with something a little more simple. Hence why I want to try my hand at classic A2.

If what you really want is to play Armada II with better graphics I would recommend Rifraf's STA2 Upgrade Project 2014:

As far as I know there is no mod to give us the original Armada with missions, but there is a mod that changes Fleet Operations to feel more like the original Armada:

I know, thats the Fleet Ops mod I'm playing around with. I just want to be able to play that mod in the original Fleet Ops GUI.

You can play with that "Klingon Academy II: Empire at War" mod too:

Install to your FleetOps/Mods directory.

The playable sides are

The United Federation of Planets
The Klingon Empire
The Romulan Star Empire
The Gorn Confederacy
The Tholian Assembly
The Interstellar Concordium
