While making my weapon I have devised a couple of possibilitys. 

One,  I make a passive special weapon that requires reaserch.  Firsrt I need to know it this is possible, andhow I make it so it doesn't fire until its energy is fully recharged. 

The other would be a weapon with a button that fired 8 consective shots.  I just need to know how to do this, and again if this is possible.  Can you tell a weapon to only fire 8 shots, then stop?

these questions are for anyone who can help.


One more question.  Does anyone know how to make an effect like the percise volly effect?  That could fix my problem.

you would add the  "specialenergycost = " command with "specialenergydisplaymode = 2" in the ships odf and then in the weapon odf u match the specialenergy cost with the one in the ships odf thats how u make it so it cant fire til fully charged....also it will display a countdown timer in this fashion which i find more usefull than numbers lol. :thumbsup:

That im afraid I dont know....I tried looking at the v-13 battleships excessive force odfs....and I cant quite figure it out....

I'm still kind of learning the modding aspect, but could you do it like the Phalanx?  Maybe check out the code for the magnum phaser and its discharge special.  And the Consecutive shots special could be like burst fire or the breen cruiser, where there's just a time delay.  So, it burst fires, and then the timer starts, and doesn't fire again until the timer reaches 100.  Not sure if that's how it works, but maybe you do! :woot:

Mal u gave me inspiration.....since the weapon requires special energy to fire id just use the cannonimp labe and tell it to fire 8 shots and then have a reset...since it wont have special energy anymore in theory it shouldnt fire again.

ok, I will look.  I don't think the magna phaser would work, because it is just a super powered phaser, but it may help any way.

What it the line of code that tells how many shots to use?  Is there a line, or would I have to just have it fire until there is no energy left.  I prefer to do the first.

Ok, what about the borg phaser, I tghought I read somewhere that it can thaget 4 things at once, or one ship 4 times.  Is this true, ind if so, how is this done.  As you guys may have noticed, I'm not that good with special weapons, not in FO atleast, so I can use all the help I can get.

Nope, the Borg multitargetting beam can target up to 4 different ships, but only 2 beams on one ship out of the 4 (if there is only 1 ship there)  ^-^

Well, I've only seen like 2-3 beams hit smaller targets, not exactly sure how that works because I never select multiple beam modules.  I've never seen that work well.

Check out borW_sphere_BBBT1, specifically the "basetargets=4" bit.  Maybe that will help you, but it will fire all your weapons at once, and not consecutively, and as Dom said, it only uses 2 beams and not the 4
