attached image way too small, cant read second level text. why not put it in image tags rather than attach?

I wouldn't complain about it, Myles, you're not missing anything. Just another pointless post derailing the thread yet again, just after it had got back on-topic.

I can see that resistance is futile. The moderators should have given the starters of a topic the ability to manage it themselves. I would clean out the lot of you, especially those who reply to troll!

that wouldnt work either, sadly some people who start threads would abuse those powers.

seeing as your thread has served most of its purpose it will probably end up getting locked soon, once the smell of off topic is around, there's no going back.

When you make such angry posts as that, you lose all credibility. Calm down.

In fact, Myles' last post WAS relevant. The points you made in the first post have been discussed, and DOCa Cola has said "interesting ideas", so anything good to be taken from the ideas have already been taken by the dev team.

Opening a new thread would be pointless. The topic of "What should the 3rd avatars be like?" has been discussed hundreds of times, and you've not really added much to any of those discussions from the past few years. In fact, you should have searched for an existing thread first, instead of posting one of your own, so don't act like you're any better than us at forum etiquette.

I'd like to ask that everybody just take a step back here and think before they post again - there are quite clearly a number of offtopic posts heavily intertwined with ontopic ones, and many of those were instigated by the original poster as well as repliers to those very posts.

If you have something to say about third avatars and ideas, please say them. If you just want to discuss some of the other topics present here, open a new thread or use the PM system please

I agree; guys, why don't we all just calm down for a sec? I think we all need to think about some things for a minute:
First and most importantly, THIS IS JUST A FORUM! Will it really matter in the long run when you log off five minutes after your post?
Now Beef, I'd like to think I know many of the people on this forum pretty well by now, and that they would apologize if they upset you. But at the same time, it doesn't justify getting this upset over such a silly thing. I think if we all just took a moment to think, we could reach a satisfying conclusion, but only if both groups agree. Here's my advice; in the future, if you don't want a off-topic forum, politely request people to stay on topic in your post, and itd be their problem if they didn't respect it, and not worth your time. Although at the same time you need to acknowledge that topics do sometimes go off on tangents, mainly because the things pointed out in posts tend to go into detail of why something does or doesn't work, and a single topic can go on for only so long before this happens. If you feel your current topic can still be discussed more, say so and have those who want to continue their line of thought open up a new thread. Less than five minutes of work on both sides can end these problems and any potential bad blood
All I'm saying is that this is a far smaller deal than it is being made out to be.

First of all, trekkiefan2 stop commenting on all the off topic critics, you are only inflating the problem even more.

Second, nobody offended me, i consider such matter as much as eating with an open mouth but not offensive.

Thirdly, stop trolling please! If somebody comments on this Italicized section of my post again, im gonna abandon it!


Now back to the matter at hand: I was told that the bosses have pretty much made up their mind about who the extra avatars were, was it pointless to open this topic in the first place?

It is never pointless to make an idea thread - they serve to get the community thinking of new ideas as well as give new thoughts for Fleet Ops as a whole

The guide's apocrypha section was never designed to make people shoot each others' ideas down - it was made so that folks could get a bit of the backstory if they wanted and become more excited about it. In the end, it doesn't matter if ideas in the forums go in their own direction separate of the apocrypha - that's why they are feature requests and not "corroborate the dev-plan" threads  . Everything is subject to change, and plenty of ideas from the forums have made it into Fleet Ops even after considerable rework (which may leave the original concept very changed).

Generally speaking, there is much less set into stone then the community thinks Quite a lot of recent development in Fleet Operations was influenced by ideas from the forums.

3. You can't just blatantly dismiss someone's ideas like that and expect them not to say anything about it.
4. This is not trolling, not by a long shot, simply an attempt to prevent any potential bad feelings that may exist between members. I've seen more than a few people quit this game because of it, which is really too bad.
Now, how 'bout we both agree this particular discussion closed and get back to the matter on hand, just like you wanted. If you wish to contest the things I said, you can do it over PM, but from now on let's keep it off the forums.

Now to answer your question: Yes, your topic was valid. I don't think the devs have in concrete exactly what bonuses and unique features they're going to have. Many of your ideas were pretty good, I wouldn't be suprised if some of them make it to the next patch
