Will i am totally stealing Beef's topic lol (your idea's are interesting! should gives the devs some new ideas i hope)
I'll make my last post here about this sidetrack discussion.
So tell me... Was the borg overboard with their assessments and measurements During TNG or did Voyager just downgrade them and went overboard with their assessments and measurements of the ship/crew capability.
See it is a tv show, writers can come up with anything to downgrade any alien race (like that supernova sun that explodes and destroys romulus in star trek, or upgrade them by some newly discovered tech that give them near invincibility. As long as it gives an interesting story

Apparently, within a ten-year span they went from being completely ineffectual against them to easily defeating Borg vessels left and right... progress?

Again I said that post TNG they sometimes were descrpencies in various asssesment, however haveing just rewatched TOS in its entirety I can tell you that compared to the other series, the had far more crazy ideas about certain things. For example they in one episode they state that just one ounce of antimatter is enough to rip half a planets atmosphere away, by that measure a photon should have no problems one shotting planets. Im just saying of all the shows TOS is a bit crazier that way, mostly because they were more interested in story telling then trying to make the tech make sense most likely.

If you knew there was giant space cubes that could appear at almost random around your planets wouldn't you spend a lot on R&D to fight them, Remember the only reason the Defient class exsists is to fight the borg. Although had the borg sent just 2 cubes earth, feds wouldn't stand a chance. One on its own nearly assimilated earth in ST First Contact.

Still, that seems like an awful lot of progress to be making in such a short amount of time, especially since they also had alot of other problems to deal with, such as those pesky Romulans and that oh-so-insignifigant Dominion War depleting virtually all their resources.
The STFC was a Command Cube though, which offers a pretty good comparison actually:
The first time they encountered it, it destroyed 49 of their vessels with seemingly no effort at all, and was only stopped because of a loophole Piccard created (He's just that awesome

in those 10 years, what tech did they develop specifically against the borg? ablative armor, pulsed phasers, biogel and the emh?
I am not counting The plot tech from future Janeway.
It is really difficult to develop technology when the borg only attacked twice. you know, you need to test tech out on them to see their effectiveness. even a simulation doesn't have the data on those kinds of tests
Just look at current day tech. Touchscreens where developed in the late 80's begin 90's. Took them almost 25 years to make them really useful. Hell even now nanotech is available. it can be created but still need to be researched on application use and how to mass produce it. Drugs takes about 10 years to develop and Military tech developed by the US takes ages.
so 10 years is quite short to make an idea, produce it, make it work and then mass produce it. How long was the federation busy trying to figure out transwarp?
but like i said, it is all up to the writers. Stargate is a prime example. It always amazes me that SG-1 could figure out high tech.. Specially the ancient/asgard tech. try explaining how to make a computer to a guy from the 11th century.. you might want to start by explaining what electricity is before you start talking a bout bits and bytes

Tell me about it Beef!
I really like 3 avatars over just the two. I know FO when complete will have 5 but for now we have to mod in a 3rd as I sometimes do.

It seems a lot of lemons to squeeze, you sure they're gonna make it... with the condition today's economy is and all?
Im just worried because of what happened to Bridge commander's kobayashimaru project and it went down the toilet for economic reasons.

Clearly offtopic is normal here nothing you can do about it.

Guide says four. The devs have said four. How did you get number 5?

They just recently released a whole new version. They're still working on it like they always have.
