How long for a patch - The Poll

Hi,

we all know that the fleetops staff don't want to talk about when the new patch will be released, but what do you think about this topic

Happier if you have to wait forever with a cool new suprise patch at the end, or a patch every year as far as something new cool has been done

It is now 1 year ago FO 3.2.3 has been released, what do you think?

i think this thread is kinda pointless...... its not helping for sure. just enjoy the current one and paitently wait ofr the next one.

It's not up to us how long it takes, it's up to them. And I'm happy to wait until they are happy enough with their work to release it, rather than having a fixed "update interval" where everything's released half-done, and have to put up with even more people whining about bugs.

Yes it's been 1 year since 3.2.3, but we're not on 3.2.3 any more, we're on 3.2.6, so what's your point?

On 3.2.3 the last major changes has been done

to be honest i would not wait more than two years for a new patch from now on, i would leave and never come back, but not yet, just hope it will not take forever

Our next "patch" is not just a patch: it is a whole new version which radically changes gameplay and many other things, larger in scale than release of 3.0.0 in some senses.

I'm sorry to hear that you do not have patience to wait, but perhaps it is best to think about it as any other game (except without the pay, full time job, etc). Folks had to wait 10 years between Starcraft 1 and II - we'll have our next version out far far sooner than that of course . As I recall you are a very new player, who has not yet learned how to play all the factions - perhaps it is a good time to explore and experiment more and have fun .

starcraft is made for money by a business too, these guys are doing it while they work their day jobs as superheroes or something.

relax, when fleetops gets put on steam, then you can start saying they're releasing in valve time.

Speaking of which, do you think they will announce Half Life 3 at E3 next week.  They are supposed to announce a game with a "Three" in the title, but it better not be Left 4 Dead III, or a new IP which cleverly uses the word "Three."

Maybe they will be Kind enough to release Half Life 2: Episode 2: Part 2: Chatper 1 or something like that

What a discourageing view. if everyone thought like this, there would be no fleet ops. you must remember that these people do this as a hobby and a labor of love. they mod because they want to. and if they stop wanting to... were all in trouble. so instead about being pessimistic about what we have now (which by any standards, the best trek game ever)... be encourageing to the devs, post idea, refer new players, master the current patch....  I've been playing this game for a year and a half and i still only have 1 faction down to a good level.... so at that rate it'll take me 7 more years to master the others..... so untill that limit is reached, i perfectly happy with the current patch. You should set some personal goal to, like making a list of the people you can't beat in a 1v1, and stadly make you way through the list.... or work on you team game strats, try crazy things, Phalanx rush, dready, 4 player cube rush..... make new maps, try the ones we have already...... You need to expand your view. and if all else fails, mod. thats one way i stay in love with this game. i mod, i've hosted bunches of little mods os ts over a while, things like Dominion scout was (that one even had working counters and 9 types of scouts), or dode vs bug. all very simple mods that were a hell of a lot of fun to play. So you see, this game is only a boring as you make it, so make the way you play fun and it will never get old.

there'll never be a left 4 dead 3 or HL 3, it's well known valve can't count to 3, because gabe newell only has 2 hands.

maybe left 4 dead 2 episode 2 or half life 2 super awesome edition with hats or something.

which by any standards, the best trek game ever

oh i'm not so sure about that, don't count out ds9 the fallen.

oh boy the high you got when you found the red keycard was unmatched, as was the crushing low when you got to the other side of the map and realised you actually needed a blue keycard, oy vey that was a rollercoaster.

Many people say "325 is sooo boring", but only play one race, with pretty much only one or two strategies, and then blame the game for becoming boring, meh. Try to learn all races, have some fun. And on a plus side: all the experience you gain with different gameplay will help you in other RTS games, and of course the next FOPS redo too.

Just enjoy the game, it's done when it's done...  :D
and if you can't wait, write Dominus mean messages - he likes that.
