Hmmm, can we get pictures of semi-naked women on the cover as well?  Come on!  We have to think marketing here!  What's our target demographic?  Teenage boys with acne who are Star Trek fans and spend too much time in their rooms playing games instead of going out and getting fresh air.  At least put an image of 7 of 9 on the cover, better if photoshopped so she is embracing Major Kira.....

Phew, i'm getting all hot and sweaty now. :sweatdrop:  Must stop thinking about Kira and 7 together.  Going for a lie down...  :D

being immature is fun. why take life seriously and die with a frown?

we dont stop playing when we get old, we get old when we stop playing.

Major Kira? Are you serious? Why not Jadzia Dax!?

jadzia was generally annoying to me. im glad she died.

she never seemed to have an important job. mostly she was there to spout the technobabble 5 mins before the end to fix it. but obrien could do that too.

sometimes she piloted stuff, but we all know that any random idiot can be helm like in tng.

i didnt care much for her

kinda like worf, i liked him in tng, but in ds9 they shoe-horned him in, hammering a square peg into a round hole, for no reason. ds9 didnt need worf. i feel he was put in for no good reason. and his position of "strategic ops officer" was awful. doctor bashir covered for him once, thats how easy his job is.

eventually they had sisko give up looking for stuff for worf to do, and gave him to martok.

Are you kidding? She was the stations science officer, she discovered the wormhole (with Sisko), commanded the Defiant for a little bit during the Dominion War, and that's just naming a few of her accomplishments. I'd say she was pretty important to the show in-universe and out. And I haven't even factored in the fact that Terry Farrell is fricken gorgeous.

Worf was brought on to increase ratings and allow the Klingon's to have a major role in the show. They had trouble early on finding a role for Worf yes, but after his first year they rectified this by making him first officer of the Defiant and made intelligence operations part of his job description. Putting Worf on the show allowed the character to grow beyond TNG and even the movies and I think he added a certain depth to an already awesome Trek series.

WOW, I never realized how bad the Enterprise was to Worf. DS9 was far kinder to him.

i dont like jadzia, i found her annoying. aloof and egotistic. and she was booooorrrring. the "i've lived a very long time" jokes got repetitive and dull after the 3rd joke. i plain didnt like her. and she wasnt important. she was the "science officer" on a ship this is important as the enterprises (voyager too) always seem to find every single anomaly and phenomenon in the whole galaxy. but on a station they were hard pressed to invent anomalies which come to a station. jadzia was pointless, she served to give the occasional technobabble when they needed the deux ex machina 5 mins before the end of the show. but obrien was clever too, he could have done the technobabbling.

obrien was a good character too, just like worf he came from tng, but his move was sensible, plausible, believable, it made sense. he was now the guy who fixes the damage when stuff goes wrong. worf was completely useless. sisko's original idea of bringing him there to help with the klingons was clever. but after DS9: The Way of the Warrior he wasnt really useful. "strategic operations officer" what a load of s**t. doctor bashir seemed perfectly capable of doing worf's job. this is a doctor with delusions about being a spy. doing worf's job.

maybe they could have made him take eddington's post. as chief of starfleet security. why not? starfleet always seemed adament that they wanted a chief of security of their own. they never really trusted odo no matter how much sisko went to bat for him. what's funny is that worf always seemed to be weapons officer. even though he was strategic ops he fired the gunz too. they could have called him tactical officer for that.

none of these were really necessary though. odo did security, so security chief wasnt a perfect solution, just a better one than strategic ops. weapons officer was stupid too as this is a station and doesnt fire weapons much. dax did the gunz before worf came.

worf always felt like he was forced in, the show would have been fine without him.

eventually they ran out of ways to have him waste his time on the station so he joined martok for the war and did something useful.

dax was also useless.

you say she discovered the wormhole. she used the computer to do it by giving it simple instructions. then all they did was fly there and luckily the wormhole opened.

she commanded the defiant yes, she is an able officer, i never said she was an idiot, i said she was useless to the show, they already had a capable officer in command, sisko. dax did nothing important. im glad dukat iced her. he was far more interesting, more entertaining.

worf's role in tng may have been comical as the man behind the worf effect, but in general he was useful. he did a valid role of security and gunz. there were plenty of klingon eps for him to be in too. he had development too. there was no reason to shoehorn him into ds9. as that caused issues with the movies, the explanations for why worf was in the movies got shorter and shorter until they just gave up and said "he's in the movie, deal with it"

i like worf, i just didnt like the way he was thrown into ds9 for no reasons other than ratings.

like 7of9 being thrown into voyager for her cup size borg intrigue. at least she had some interesting stuff sometimes, several eps she pulled through on her own. a silly ratings boost stunt of throwing in a bit of totty turned into an average character. that was pure luck.
