It's a bit out-of-line to tell Optec his answer is 'not valid'. Who do you think you are? Be thankful they release anything at all. And they certainly aren't required to answer questions like "When will it be released?" every time someone asks.

'Soon' is a very valid (and correct) answer.

Not to seem out of line but wernt we told there would be more smaller more frequent patches.

well it sounds to me like things got more complicated after 3.1.5, they were undoing several changes they had made for the long run in order to get onto the new release schedule.

also its only been 3 months since last release. if the average release time was 3 months that would be 4 patches per year, which is a fast schedule imo.

The next patch features a number of early game changes which require careful testing :) .

As long as they don't have to put out patches every few days.

Do these game changes feature something that the Federation can use early game to defend against short-ranged units?

  You mean like Pulse Turrets?

  Or Phaser Turrets?

Or any of their own ships?

Pulse and Torpedo Turrets, they're the ones specialized for short-ranged targets.

Whenever it comes to release-dates, it's better to state it's coming soon than to give a fixed date.
And when Optec says that, it doesn't look far away from now actually.

I also don't have to remind you of games like Command & Conquer 4, where everything is rushed and basic work isn't done properly just because publishers force developers to work it out until a fixed release date...

legacy is also an example of a game that needed more time in the studio.
