The fighters as independent units idea sounds like all kinds of bad, though. For a start, every (more or less) worthless individual fighter needs a click, a selection slot as well as all its orders.

If the ability to send fighters to an ally was coded as a special ability - like Vector Calculation is now - then you could select your carrier, click the button, select the ship that you want to have fighters, and then the fighters would transfer.(I do not know however if this can be done in the game.) No need for having the fighters be ships themselves.

P.S. This conversation should probably get its own thread.

Alright, if someone hasn't already hasn't started it. I'll start it.

was wondering why there is a " new wormhole model" in the high priority section
and "more wormhole models" in the low priority section.

does one mean new one to replace the standard one, and others that work differently or just look differently?

so, effects? or how they act/react to certain things? or different colour versions? :)

I would think the high priority one is just so they can replace the A1 era stock model. The quality difference between that thing and the rest of the models is huge. I think that the low priority one is so that people have more alternatives so they don't all look like the Bajoran wormhole (there were a few others in the shows that looked pretty different), but it may mean different effects. It just says "More Wormhole models" though so I'm inclined to say that they won't have different behavior.

yes. "new wormhole model" is to replace the current bajoran style wormhole model with a better one, while "more wormhole models" are a bunch of ideas for wormholes with alternative looks but same functionality.

I know you guys are busy, but is it possible to see a newspost soon? Or just a progress update?
posted on July 23rd, 2012, 4:18 am
Yes, we will have some new newsposts soon. Sometimes it is difficult to spare time to work on graphically intensive newsposts (for that *wow* factor) when development focus is largely on gameplay at the moment. It's probably not all that exciting to hear about new mechanics without seeing shiny ship models or special ability affects alongside them... :sweatdrop:

I do like the nice graphical newsposts, but I also just like small text updates. Just a little bit of writing of what the devs have been up too lately. That sort of stuff

While the presentation will catch the eye it's the new mechanics that'll keep our interest.

Mechanics discussions don't really need screenshots, not in the same way as introducing a major ship revamp (hint hint Sovereign flagship blog), or a post showing off a new model. Don't be afraid of a (well-formatted) wall of text with perhaps one screenshot, or a picture that's only tangentially related, or a graph of some sort; take a look at the way EVE-Online does their dev blogs.

I think we have an intelligent base here which should be able to take on more densely presented information.

Well, I'd put the average intelligence of this community as being on-par with the average intelligence of the EVE forum community!
