I didnt think anyone here liked the Ambassador Class.  Once its upgraded it beacomes a fine ship. I just dont understand  why it has a short weapons range? I do love to have the warp in with the Ambassador Class, in fact have a great screen shot of the side profile of the Ambassador, next to the the excelscior, love haveing a fleet of them. There must be more info on the Ambassador Class then just Yesterdays Enterprise, ANY SHIP that can hold its own to some point against 4 enemy warbirds must get some creadit.

What's not to like? It's like an older, more combat-focused version of the Galaxy. Probably the first ship in the Galaxy family, or at least the direct predecessor to it.

Yes, as far as we know the Ambassador is a fine ship, it just happens to exist in that nether region of Federation history which has never really been addressed in any show or movie beyond "Yesterday's Enterprise". Clearly Starfleet feels it is not yet past its prime since it does make spot appearances in some episodes of TNG as do Excelsior class ships. Its just that because we know so little about it as a class and have no real achievements to attribute to it, we, the fans, think of it as an "older", less important class of ship. The end result is people appear to "not like it". In reality - that is in universe - the Ambassador class was probably the beginning of the (or revival of) of the heavy, multi-purpose explorer/battleship which was then succeeded by the Galaxy, to a degree, the Nebula, and still later the Akira and Sovereign. It was probably originally developed in response to some build up on the part of the Klingons or Romulans which left Starfleet feeling under powered relying on the lighter Constitution, Miranda, and Excelsior classes.

I also agree that both the Ambassador and Excelsior classes can be extremely effective in game, especially the Ambassador which seems to be quite capable of holding its own. Excelsiors are perhaps somewhat lacking in staying power but their range makes them effective in certain situations.

the ambassador did feature in other episodes, although not much

in consiracy an ambassador class was called a heavy cruiser.

according to memory alpha it was featured in data's day, although i dont remember that outing for the ambassador.

in Redemption II one was part of picards blockade. the bridge was seen with riker in command and geordi helping somehow. the bridge looked cheap. not as good as the ent-c's

in emissary the yamaguchi was seen trying to hurt the borg.

it also featured in enterprise, a graphic of the saucer was seen in a future database.

its a shame we didnt see more of it. its a very starfleet design.

Yes its very StarFleet, and i only saw her once going against the Borg at Wolf 359, and thought at the time wow what ship is that, i saw her next to a Nebula Class ship. In Yesterdays Enterprise it really got me interseted in her.

What do you expect from an 80 year old ship? I love the Excelsior, it is one of the most widely used and retrofitted space-frames in Federation History... for a reason.

Really nice angle. Almost looks like as if it was taken from another game.
