yes, it is the akira rollbar. we have not yet entirely decided how to replace the descent. either it gets an updated model that doesn't look as kitbashed as now or it will be replaced by an entire new class which 90% won't be the prometheus (missing mvam)

Nooooooooooo...

How 'bout the Excalibur as a replacement vessel?

Yeah the Excalibur would be a perfect ship to replace the ugly Behemoth that is the Descent class. You wouldn't have to change the weapons or shields either cause the Descent classes fits perfectly with the Excalibur.

It seems thing thing holding back a2 modders ha always been the galaxy separation mod provided by the engine. Why not simply have 2 separation sequences or use elements of the fusion cube separation and reintegration odf.

Ive messed with the SSS (saucer sep system) files before, and its WAY more complicated than traditional ODFs  :(

Yes! Now people can shut up about the stupid prommie. :D

Yeah, the prommie was a good design, except for its completely useless and confusing ability to split into three parts

thats not useless, it allows the ship if under heavy fire and split into 3 directions at warp to evade capture and minimize fatalities

let alone its offensive tactical benefits like 3 seperate targets

1 on 1 suddenly becomes 3 on 1 and your surrounded!

It's called Multi-Vector for a reason... you can get more firing arcs, hit different areas on a ship simultaneously. Why take out their X when you can knock out X, Y and Z.

@4, i guess that really depends on who it is used on. To be quite honest i really cant see much defensive benifits to be gained. On the offensive side of things, additional phaser arrays can be attributed to the 3 "pieces" of Prometheus as opposed to the overall vessel. However the total firepower cant be any more as the amount of power (power from warpcore) those 3 pieces can generate cannot be anymore than the overall vessel. the type XII phaser array is powerful yes but without the juice to make it work... :sweatdrop: . Torpedo tubes have to stay the same due to their nature, being too big to be concealed, you cant really say that its got an extra couple hidden somewhere. Defensively is where i think the Prometheus will really suffer, being split into 3 different parts will ultimately mean power for the shields will be about a third of their capacity. also the structural integrity will suffer, those 3 pieces cannot possibly be as strong as the overall unit. yes this can be offset slightly by diverting power, but that will be yet another drain on the individual units total power generating capacity.

the 3 different targets scenario, will ultimately depend on the situation and enemy. large scale battles: this capability will be practically useless. Also i cant really see much use for this against the Borg either, they seem quite used to be outnumbered (ship wise) when trying to assimilate earth, so i see nothing other than additional weapon testing if this is tried against them.

Before anyone mentions the Ent-D and locutus, also remember that this was simply a rescue attempt, and now the borg have adapted to this tactic, as proven by them wasting 100s of fed ships during battle of sector 001 in FC.

On the type XII phaser, don't the Akira and Sovy have them as well, along with more power to juice them with? (too lazy to look it up myself right now)

i think arikas are a bit under powered. could they have just regular torps with less damage?
