@Andre
Nah, because when we have special energy the special energy reserves can be attacked ;). And we got the time additionally. At least with KBQ and Vor'cha you are quite restricted by the time they need to reload. Perhaps that reloading time could be reduced by something, though. We don't have that now and it wouldn't unbalance things(I think), since you still have the special energy. It would mainly work for ships with high system values, which reload the energy faster than they reload those weapons(Qawduij, Borg...)

my annoyance was due to the fact that it had been suggested that the Romulans would be excluded from this feature and despite that the Romulans were brought forth as an example.

While caution is certainly needed, given precautions with researchable upgrades, cost and restoration rate this new feature would not need to be unbalanced or overpowered.

Restoring special energy by ships is a feature which has been proven to be balanced (see tweaks to the Norway and C-11) so the real question is why it should not be balanced on a yard especially if the costs and research time would place it in late game.

Suggestions have already been made to provide for that: researchable upgrade newton style (needs to be researched for each individual yard).

If anything this could be a first step towards more unique ships and buildings and not a return to the arcade A2 style.

E.g. a ship (let's take an Intrepid as example) could opt to increase shield strength through an upgrade although that upgrade would take time for each vessel and decrease the fire-power from the vessel.

Or a vessel could upgrade its weapons at the cost of weaker shields or lowered speed.

Upgrade toward higher speed, but damage to structural integrity as a result.

But individual upgrades are probably worth a topic on their own.

Because a yard is going to recharge the special energy to full i imagine just as quickly as it repairs the ships other wise it would be pointless because it would get other ships waiting to repair killed, Doing this would mean every ship that repairs can fire its special again, taking out proxy yards is usually hard enough, so imagine all ships being able to recharge their specials for use almost immediatly it sounds like a really unbalanced feature, klingons could spam drones from the bortas over  and over, this is a bad idea for so many reasons all of them being the infinite specials that will fly around because of it.

Yea exactly, I see a monsoon spam happening with a proxy yard and they repair and come out and then just keep using proximity torpedo, I don't care what kind of ships your using a fleet would be taken out so fast

Well, if my idea of the yard givng up energy was used, I'm sure that those Monsoons would only get two extra proxy torps (yard 300 energy, with 1.5 yard energy giving 1 ship energy.)

200 energy for whichever ships repair first once the yard gets energy back OP?
(I'm not talking togglable like earlier, maybe just not be able to decide which ships get energy without forcing them to not repair. This way you'll get energy distributed, but maybe only one ship or two if you're lucky get special back on.)

It is easy to micro ships to repair so you get the right ships in

How about research facilities with the ability nebula class described? Don't give the ability to a yard but to a science station and perhaps we get "proxy science stationing" :thumbsup:.
Science stations research the special weapons so why shouldn't they be able to actually give them to the ships?
