Right now the repair yards restore hull and shields, but special energy is not restored.
Doesn't it make sense for a yard to restore the special energy of a vessel?

Yes and no.
Yes, because one could think of a yard as a re-supplying thing.
No, because a repair-facility not necessarily has to resupply you and because it would be soooooo freaking op for many vessels ingame...
build 3 Antares yards, build a fleet of 7-15 Intrepids and then move out. When you fired all trico-torps just get back, reload and do it again one or two times...

Well it restores shields which suggests an active power transfer from the yard to the vessel, restoring special energy is merely the next logical step.
The rate at which it is restored can be adjusted to maintain balance or the special energy restoration could be a researchable upgrade to be researched for each yard comparable to the newton upgrade .

I can easily see this being exploited, although I agree completely with the reasoning. But if I recall, yards didn't restore special energy in stock either, although I could be wrong. If this was allowed, I think people would just duck ships into their yards to recharge them and then spam special weapons. This would be especially true for battles close to bases. It could also create a bottleneck at yards if people send their ships back too fast.

Maybe the special charging could be togglable, and it would triple repair times.

this would make the romulan special energy restoration station useless if this was implemented >.>;

Guys it is not possible for balance, the intrepids but also leahvals with their auto repair, defiants, c11s with the pink beam of death would be terrible, kvorts with their hull breaking torpedoes

Imagine the minefields the Rom's could build with that!

Or the repair beam

i'm gonna have to say no to this too, because of how powerful specials would get.
maybe if a yard increased energy by 10% to indicate power transfer. it at least would be a bit balanced. although it would make leahvals almost invincible near yards.

Maybe the yard would only have so much energy of its own (300 or so), and every 1.5 energy lost by the yard gave 1 energy to a ship.

such an idea would be balanced over large numbers of ships, but it could still let you recharge a ship or two with an important special.
early on this would throw things out. a leahval would easily be invincible with auto repair and a yard.

Since the Romulans already have special energy restoration it would make sense not to add such a feature to the Romulans, but Federation/Klingon and Dominion could get this without too much problems especially if the special energy upgrade is costly and needs to be researched for each yard.

The best race that could have this would be the Federation, but they already have Emergency Power to restore energy on allies. That's like the Singularity Generator, just smaller and slower.
If I were to pick any race to do this, it would be the Borg Adaption Matrix for assimilated cloakers and support ships.

Emergency power is Norway only. Only one of the avatars has this.
