So we need a 3rd/4th avatar...

Post ideas and suggestions on new features or improvements here.

just wanted to do a brain storming here, for all races.
my thoughts on the borg:
Directive: Expand
Expanding also has a great role to the borg, so, why not? the current borg avatars lack the ability to expand quickly cause their ships are slow and cannot defend the mining well.

My suggestions on a borg avatar which focusses heavily on getting that expansion quickly and then further expanding the map or attacking:

-As for Buildings/units, Giving them another defensive turret may or may not be a good idea, stuff not used yet includes mainly the Trans Warp Technology as of having a trans warp gate which can transport one vehicle bach to the borg base every xxx minutes... Would not be like the average "lewlz, you got 3 cubez in yer expandz" but might still be too powerful.
-"Speed" modules which increase the defensive value and movement speed

as for benefits:
-Dodecahedron doesn't need relay module to upgrade to a turret, instead, it can upgrade anytime, given, the player is willing to pay 300/150 extra ress.
^this is gonna give expand borg the ability to create very powerful yet expensive turrets. A Double-Vinca gets a tachyon-graviton-ping, when upgraded.
-increased movement speed slightly and system value by 10 for collectors, collectors gain some of the transmission matrix upgrades, such as devastating strike and boarding (might actually be too powerful, maybe give them the ability to regenerate or some other defensive stuff instead, system value is given mainly for regeneration purposes, to make them stronger)
-Transmission Matrix cost and build time decreased by 30%
^these technologies are, what will allow you to keep your mining alive with fast trans-warp for scubes

Your thoughts on this Borg Directive?
Suggestions on other Races?

Give resource/construction ships more speed, better sensor range, and give the resource station a single long or medium ranged phaser, and arm smaller ships better in return for slight loss in other stats (execpt speed) and limit production of anything larger than a sphere.

The additional speed would allow for quicker resource expansion.

Make everything slightly cheaper, but lower hull health and system values.

@armed ress stations:
I can see the Collector rush!
you send a collector to the opponent and then press the ressource node button like a madman next to his dlithium moon! pwnd!

Just a little drunk off cognac so didnt read the whole post, but directive: expand sounds like a nice concept.

yup. dont like the idea of armed mining stations thats probably gonna be for the ciadans i think.

but the idea of an expansion oriented borg directive might be interesting.

any random boosts for expanding/miners would work.

faster miners/stronger miners cheaper mining stations etc.

kinda clashes with opti a bit, as their miner gets a boost already. they seem like the resource avatar.

i was thinking of a different avatar idea:

tactical directive/destroy directive or words to that effect.

this avatar gets more weapons, but weak assimilation tech. so maybe they would not have access to assimilator/auto assim module. they would get weaker tech too, maybe their transmission matrix could cost more, their regen not be as good. but their offence power would be improved.

I agree, the Borg cannot attain perfection unless they expand and find more races to assimilation.

I also like the avatar itself, except for this part:

Mining stations being armed because it would take the Turrets place (and that is more Klingon anyway) while the smaller ships shouldn't include civilian ones. You didn't specify if you ment them too.

If I was to suggest an avatar, it would be something designed specifically to support other Borg players.

the idea of arming klingon mining stations is interesting, but i think they are happier with the ability to get ktingas from their miners. as the mining station cant move, more honour in a ktinga. if the topmey couldnt drop pods to become a warship they probably would arm their stations.

looking forward to ciadans. win a game solely by building mining stations, mining-station-walk to the enemy base lol

I never wanted mining stations to be armed :D
Might work for other races but not for borg with there instant "pop" station which can just be placed instantly for almost no ress...
Giving the collectors the ability to down the shields of attackers and try to assimilate them or boarding would make them evil :borg: alternatively, some regenerative ability and a high system value(maybe using up gathered ress and energy to regenerate, so being harassed will cut your mining but your collectors will eventually survive when you send some fleet there.

Btw I still love the idea of dodes which are able to upgrade without their special module! would really give these expansive borg some kind of heavy defense...

By armed, I dont mean anything special, just enough to keep a frigate or two at bay.

And make the stations have to be built, not just press button, receive mining station, like it is now (unless my install is bugged).

They probably already have that done if not its definitly on their to-do list.

There's another mod that had a transwarp gate system in it that wouldn't be bad.  You had to build two structures, each one anchored one end of the transwarp conduit.  It wasn't much good on the offense, but allowed a defensive borg player to set up a network of those portals to move his ships between his own areas.

On the other hand, I think once the thing was on, anybody could use it, so you had to guard them constantly.

I like the Conduit being open all the time because that would be like cannon, but to make it interesting the gateway should have a special allowing it to shot a 1 borg unit anywhere in explored map like starfleet command. Expansion should not get a boost in firepower for there assemblers/collectors/stations, but a quicker build ability would be better. Maybe steal mini-pyramids that would be quicker to build and travel faster but have less health then scube. Basically Expansion would have a good early boost with them. They could get the Conduit for faster travel to their expansion because a cube takes forever to get around. Besides it would make a good fear factor if a random cube just pop up outside your base. :borg: "OHHH SH IT!" Data.

i'm not a fan of transwaping everywhere, borg expansions need to have some vulnerability lol.

That's what makes the one I mentioned so great.  They build the conduit, and you fly a cloaked fleet through it, straight into the heart of their base.  At the same time, you send another fleet to harrass something so they move their ships there to stop it.  Then...decloak and burn that sucker down.

so it pwns against feds and doms but sucks against roms and klings? duh...
Plus if the dode gets the bonusses, I mentioned, they are gonna have tach-grav-pings at the gate, so no sneak attacks...
