Late-game? The effectiveness of turrets goes down as the size of a fleet goes up. By the time lategame has come around, you'll need a hell of a lot of turrets to keep anything defended.

The problem with using them cloaked is that the singularity gen won't be cloaked unless a cloaking gen is also built (very very rare, seen it three times online.) Then the fleet just hits the singularity gen and the turrets are almost completely useless. In late game, the enemy will have the numbers to just waltz up to your singularity gen (since turrets just hit the nearest ship, they'll spread out fire horribly) and annihilate it.

If you're using Rom turrets as a late-game turret system, you probably are wasting resources you could've spent on that second Tavara, or you've got enuff dil to make the turrets worth it, in which case you should've just got another yard. Singularity gens are useful next to repair yards so they can recharge those awesome warbird specials.

See someone with a brain, romulans turrents are not strong and using an expensive battery to power them is just unfair and unbalanced, no other race has to do this, a fed warp could take out an expensive singularity using the steam runner (2 if the fed is lucky) and then bye bye turrent def, what has the fed player lost maybe 3 ships that didnt cost a thing , might even leave alive.

The 'firepower supremacy' idea? Romulan Turrets are the fastest and cheapest to build and can change from standard to artillery at will. They are not meant to kill fleets, they hold them back until ships arrive, something they and the transmitter are durable enough to do.

 I decoaked with 5 sangs, 3 vorcha, 2 kebejq, and 5 kvorts on a romulan expansion not expecting any trouble and to my surprise my fleet was pwned by 12 cloaked romulan turrets. They are great as you cant see them making it harder to find a gap in the defensive network...

i agree with funny and tyler.

neb: if u are expecting turrets to win a battle on their own you are playing the wrong game lol. turrets arent supposed to win battles. ships are.

the romulan turrets can really delay a fleet for ages. then the rom fleet arrives. they are just useful in a different way than other turrets.

How long did the SG survive? How long did the Turrets take to stop fireing? How many ships did you lose?

besides the effect of powering the turrets, the Singularity Transmitter also regenerates special energy on nearby friendly Romulan ship, which is a great boon for Romulan gameplay (and also Romulan defense forces. The Leahval or Rhienn for example do well with regenerating energy pools).

That being said, the Romulan gameplay is not layed out around conventional turrets, like the Dominion or the Federation for example. A Romulan player should always deploy an agile force, to act and disturb hostile strategies. A "reactive" strategy pattern, where you let your opponents do the first move, might fit the Federation techtree and ship layout better. If you love turrets and stationary defenses, warmup the Dominion. A Vorta commander just recently promised me a lot of new cool features in this corner for their faction redo. Man this guy was full of joy. Almost frightening to see a laughing Vorta, i can tell you! :(

More turrets?  Yes, please.  Give to me ways to not have games reduced to starcraft II duration!  (3 minute game?  Not fun.)

Who have you been playing against?  Even with a K'tinga (or other) rush against the poorest player would still take more than 5 minutes to get to his mining, destroy it, and receive a "gg".  And that really would be against the worst player in the world.

truth,      the cost effectivity of romulan turrets is by far worst. You nearly dont see it in online matches... all other turret types are pretty common, even idiot must see that theres something terribly wrong with it.

This multiple singularity gen + cloak gen + insane amount of rom turrets can be done to be effective but when you actually have luck to survive long enough to finish it.Everything else except this turret defense is destroyed by your oponent becose he have much more money in his fleet.Even if he attacked this turret place,he would win also becose any ship except scouts, klingon builder and newton repair ship is much better hp/dps for price that those rom turrets.Ofcourse I am here just week and dont play online often so I really dont know what I am talking about,in fact these turrets are best in game    :whistling:

that's a very arrogant thing to say.

and a very weak argument: "anyone who disagrees with me is an idiot" that wont convince people, in fact it will make people listen to you even less as u come accross as a rude loudmouth.

a lot of people seem to disagree with you, are they all idiots?
