Risner Sabers are bugged, thus they get her Saber offense boosts (+1 to initial offense, +1 at rankup) as well as Mayson's (+3 initial defense.) This makes her Sabers all-around better. I'm pretty sure this will be fixed next patch, so we've yet to see whether +1 offense and +1 rankup offense are enuff to overcome the low defense (Risner Sabers were considered underpowered before when they had base stats, extra offense was to make them rival Mayson Sabers.)

even mayson's sabres are still nice. just need more effort to use.
i think people overlook the lovely sabre.
and nobody can ever request sabre saucer separation as it is basically a saucer with a stub. and stubs cant fly lol. plus the nacelles are on the saucer lol.

It's like the Prime Directive. It is a law, until they really really need to break it.

but you guys are missing the issue. what is better, random warpin ships or 2-3 sabers?

Erm, answer is having both. One does not preclude the other. Probably better to ask which is better. 4 Sabers or 2 Monsoon/Intrepids (don't forget Chassis Level 1 research)... and of course the answer is, it depends on who your opponent is and what they are doing.

u can get more than 2 or 3 sabres in the time it takes to get warpin up. if u double yard sabres.
u can get 6 out probably by the time sfc is done.
and the first sabres can actively do stuff, while sfc does nothing while being built.
plus u can save money on needing so many early turrets.

Warp in is always a better choice than sabers. You cant have enough sabers by the time first warp in arrives, to inflict enough damage on your opponents mining. You can easily be countered with moonson, which can take a ton of damage against the saber plus they are faster than the saber even with the saber special on. miners can easily be repaired in time, if they take too much damage. Skiping sabers and going level 2 ships with double yards is much better choice than level one sabers in my opinion. If you want to counter early warp in go double yard with lev 2 ships although that might be quite difficult if your opponent gets nice warp ins.

actually if u double yard sabres u can make quite a few of them. no warpin can catch a sabre
and so early on, the enemy fleet wont be big enough to drop a sabre before u can micro it away.
plus the monsoon is short ranged, turn on hyper impulse and sabre's speed climbs to only 10 short of monsoon, and negates the monsoon's passive by being better against short ranged ships.
double yarding sabres is dirt cheap, so your numbers can be very large. combine that with long range and good speed, the sabre can kite too.
chassis 1 ships can be double yarded too. they wont fail either. feds have many many good strats.
risner can skip to akira against a less aggressive enemy. maybe put the second yard at your expansion, making ur expansion much harder to kill.
