If at all this feature should be implemented for just one race. Just my thoughts.

who said rura penthe was inneficient? in dialogue we had klingons confirming that rura penthe's dilithium is important for the klingon fleet. the klingons were doing both, getting dil and punishing criminals at the same time. even if they had no criminals they would keep the mine open for the dil.

 thats the craziest thing i've ever heard, nothing would stop the criminals firing the lazor (or whatever it is) at the dilithium and blowing the place to bits. dilithium is not explosive. its a tool to control M/AM reactions, it doesnt have any power of its own.

I never said it had power on it's own.  I said it's a catalyst.  And sure, nothing would stop them from firing the laser at the dilithium...other than self-preservation, the fear of death, hope that maybe someday they'll find a way off that rock, and foolishly...fear of beatings.  The same things that keep slaves eating.

its not, it doesnt catalyse matter/antimatter reactions. why would u need to catalyse such a reaction?

its a way of controlling the reaction, as matter and antimatter make a big explosion when they annihilate, dilithium is porous to low weight antimatter, allowing the reaction to be controlled. so u generate power and dont blow up.

riiiight the guards are totally gonna beat these slaves when THEY ARE ALL DEAD AND VAPOURISED. that makes no sense. these prisoners arent gonna leave, they are there for life. at least some must be suicidal, or just plain crazy. just face it your argument is getting more and more ludicrous. dilithium is stable and has none of the properties u say it does.

lol in tos they started off using plain old lithium. then they realised that lithium is actually known and understood and that it cant possibly do anything that trek wanted it to. so they put the di prefix infront of it. it still sounds silly as lithium doesnt bond with other lithium atoms. so  dilithium probably couldn't exist naturally. unless it was some fancy thing like dilithium technobabblide.
