Thats Perfect!
have 4 invisible points around the ship and when you click on fighter special have a build time of 1 sec and boom you have 4 fighter groups. the only problem would be equiping them with weapons

I thought of the Avalon building that station-fighter with the fighter-pods already available. If one fighter of the squad gets destroyed, one pod would be destroyed, so the rest of the squad is still available until the station-fighter itself will be destroyed.
Indeed there is more than one problem:
as you said, Adama, I don't know either how to equip them with weapons that would look realistic after one of the fighters has been destroyed. (Imagine phaser-fire from out of nowhere next to some fighters... ghost-fighter, I assume..)
The next problem: if you destroy the station, all pods are destroyed with it. That makes sense in case of a station with pods but not if you've got a group of fighters. (Unless they commit suicide...)
Uhm.. not to forget: a ship building ships is weird....

nah, things are ok the way they are in regards to fighters.
what your saying would effectively make the avalon a moving station, having to build these fighters, thus having you click on the build button like a madman. i mean come on even 4-5 fighters at a time, who is honestly gonna bother with that in the middle of a fleet battle?

I can hardly think of anyone. So please let the Avalon the way it is and give the Descent a facelift.

There could be 1 master button which builds them all in one second. One of the problems is that ai never repair ships that are actually like stations. I know because i am awaiting the release of a BSG mod and one of thier problems is that they made the battlestars stations so that they could build vipers and now the ai cant cope with it. and to seer. the fighters should be destroyrd because they need a carrier to survive(i.e. refuel and get the piolots food)

I agree with you. My post was based on the idea that one of the fighters would be the station and the rest of the squad would be pods. In that case it would not have made any sense to have the rest of the squad destroyed when the "station-fighter" would be destroyed.
But if the Avalon itself would be the station you are right.

well it's not fighters but hell it's a stationary weapon's platform lol I think the Fed's BIG ship should get a major FACELIFT. The decent looks like it was mothballed the thrown back into service just cuz it's BIG. I would suggest the Excalibur class but I know it's a bit over rated. Something new and sleek would be nice though. Make the Avalon's fighters a passive weapon. Part of a normal attack not using special energy.

I was just reiterating the "good idea". I don't like how it takes so long for them to be launched. Should be automatic. Maybe find a different way to "swam" them.

wouldn't mind them flying CAP around the ship when not fighting. make it look like the star beses shuttles

I don't mind them as they are, although giving them a button would help so you can tell them when to go.

No, they should be a passive part of the Avalon's special. Make them stafe the enemy ship that you tell the Avalon to attack.

How is this solution for Peragrine fighters come 4 per Avalon (Basic) .Refit Avlon has Capacity for 4 more but Support pod must be be built on the Tech tree and Ship must be built at the large Federation yard. Plus you cannot add any more fighters to the Avalon class ship till it goes to the Starship yard to R/Recrew. Plus so eqiupped ships get a 20% Speed and manurverability penality. Also give Capacity for a new type of Assault Fighter With a Micro torpedo Launcher and two Torpedos Reloads . But no Phasers. like the TOS Gannon Mod of the the Standard work bee's in to a Light fighter (Hornet? /And wasp?). one had one standard Phonton torpedo /or a small Phaser emmiter in the port side. but only can bulid two per avalon. Sorry Cant find my ST refrence book to get the names of the work bee fighters names . Pappy063
