They have it, it just isn't very reliable.

Why? Give me an actually plausible answer, as the Federation is a federation of Engineering, which is why they have only a few stations. They don't need the excess.

Transwarp, atleast the type used by the Borg (which is where the Federation would get their's from) is obviously based on conduits. The Fedearation wouldn't want to create transwarp conduits for the Borg, effectively making further incursions easier.

 Transwarp coils! You use those, not conduits!

yeah. but the conduits would be fun. Like the dominion sensor and artillery weapons, this could be a Borg base unit akin to the romulan cloak or the klingon pep up station.

would be nice to have these conduits. Makes the borg more borgy and would compensate for the delayed construction time if we were able to deliver the ships to the large fleets of the feds/klings/roms/doms.

Would allow the small number of ships of the borg to have some ability to take on the enemy bases.

Ideas?

Transwarp Hub?

That's not what Voyager showed. Transwarp Coils may be a part of the wardrive that a particular ship needs, but for borg-style transwarp, that's clearly not the only component. They've been shown to establish conduits for fast Transwarp travel (see Transwarp hubs, etc.).
It's likely (from what has been shown), that there's several forms of "transwarp". Transwarp just means "faster than warp". Borg seem to have a faster than warp drive, a regular warp drive, and a conduit based faster than warp drive (ie hubs). Note that Slipstream (again, from Voyager) would also count as "transwarp" - it's just a different method of achieving it.

Transwarp... A little off topic.

The topic is about what to do with the Exesleser class.

If you wont to start a new topic but don't take over mine.

There is a serious difference between a Transwarp Hub, and a Transwarp Coil.

A coil generates a localized transwarp field (Trans:  Beyond - Transwarp is not limited to the Warp 10 paradox threshold).  But ships the size of Cubes are simply too large for an effecient Transwarp field.

However, a Transwarp hub makes a conduit, which is more akin to a Wormhole than a warp drive, so that the large ships don't have to deal with horribly ineffecient power consumption.

And ewm90?  This is about the Excelsior.  The fact that she was built around a federation Transwarp drive that failed means with the borgtech that Voyager brought back, the Federation may finally be able to use her for what she was designed to do.  She'd be an experimental ship, but still, it'd be impressive.

You may have forgotten what this topic is about, Please reread the 1st post.

For another resign please make another topic for any thing other then that.

If your goal was to hijack this topic please be kind to other members.

Not trying to be an ass here, but it sounds like you're saying that you oppose -anything- for the Excelsior other than turning the Federation's longest-running testbed for warship technology and general starship technology into a mining scow?

Its not.

Ether your being a ass or your not. If you are trying not to be a ass you don't seem to be able to control how you come off.

I think you know how you are coming of, So let me ask you are you being a ass?

Its not about right or how wrong. But people don't like to be responsible for there own power.

The world that was crated for me out of what you posted was I am dumb for suggesting that the ship should be used for that...

So what was your intention?
