Good ideas here. Even without the refit bit, it would be nice to see the different variants each have a chance of warping in. Gives it a bit more flavour, I think...

But yeah, with refit ability this would be even better. I mean, we see it with the Romulans, with the Generix and Rhienn classes, so the Nebula would be an obvious choice.

I think the problem is, as stated before here, that refitting isn't part of the "style" the FlOps team are going for. Every race has it's own way of playing, so the "special features" are usually used on one race only. So the Feds have warp-in, the Romulans have refitting (an interesting parallel to SFB, with the various Hawk class modular variants... a coincidence?), the Borg have their custom ships, the Dominion have prototypes, the Klingons have... ah screw, I forgot.

So although it would be really cool to go with what's been suggested, it could muck up these "racial specific features" the team have worked hard to make. I would love to see modular customisable warp-in prototypes (maybe that would be over-doing it, but what the hell) ...

So yeah, I like it, but I think we have to be careful about what "flavour" we use for this.

I agree. It would be very cool; but it would blur the lines between the races gameplay-wise. I think that the focus on gameplay (instead of canonicity or coolness) is one of the points that makes FO the great mod that it is.

The Klings have the Science ship that can blow up an enemy Starbase while cloaked, if you have six of them, that is!  :sweatdrop: I've used this strategy to take down several Cubes an starbases myself. Also, this topic should have been a poll.

The Nebula Class featured ingame may be some sort of Sensor refit, devoted mainly to sensors, and thus not having the storage capacity for photons, and so has two pulse phasers to compensate. This would make sense, as the Nebula featured in FO has Full Scan.

As I mentioned in another post, this mod has 6 canon varients of Nebula Class (though 2 of them use the same model and 2 other canon types are not included); http://armada2.filefront.com/file/Nebula_variants_package;86193.

If anyone was going to add more varients to Fleet Ops, this would be a decent place to see the differences.

i strongly support the pod refits, its just like the miranda classes weve seen with different varients and refits, i belive the nebula would be very valulable with this type of thing, maybye it could even house a shied enhancer, extra weapons, sensors, boarding marings, a dilithium collecter?, repair capabilites, i think this would be grerat for nebula

I think we're over complicating an RTS. It would be cool to have some variants...but really? Of all the nebulas you've seen? How many were the Phoenix type? 1? How many had the extra nacelles? 1? How many had the tactical pod...well...

if I'm right there is only one in a Episode to see with a Sensor Module. It's the USS Phoenix...

So I don't know why the nebula in Fleetops has a tactical pod and sensor special ability

What about the torpedo of armada 1 bouncing from ship to ship
this would be very nice to see and would fit

They took it off of the Akira (because it was 'unrealistic'), changed the name and added it to the Romulan Rhein Refit (apparently, more believable)

why unrealistic...it was designed to be a carrier/gunship :crybaby:

A torpedo that hits up to 5 ships is unrealistic. Though I fail to see how reducing the number of targets and giving it to the Romulans (who focus more on sabotage than powerful weapons) is much different.

well personally i dont see, rhazes point, jsut because we havent seen it dosent mean it dosent exist, we have seen it in a few episods refits of the nebulas pod, but just because we only see it in one episode dosent mean that alot of nebulas dont have it, i mean tng is a bout a galaxy class, not nebulas pods, and part of fleet ops is making a few, changes, for instance excelsior two, and descent, since when were they in the show.... so i think pod varients would fit very well

Personally, Id rather utilize the warp-in to antother effect. One of the dynamics that makes it interesting the random nature of it. I think itd be much more simple to just add the different Nebula variants to the warp-in list, that way you wouldnt really know what you were getting until it arrived. One could argue that it would work well with all the different variants to the different classes of ships. Rather than refit vessels in the field like the romulans, send out a distress call and you end up with an already refitted vessel or a standard one. The more powerful refits would be less frequent. I d suggest this for warp-in:

Nebula Class:

Standard - Triangle Pod - One torpedo and Phasers

Sensor - AWACS Pod - Phasers only - Scanning ability

Weapons - Triangle pod - 2 torpedoes and Phasers - Type 3 torpedo ability of the galaxy class.

Galaxy Class:

Standard - As is ingame

Venture Refit - Additional phaser arrays - increased damage for phasers same type 3 torpedo ability.

Extra nacelle = Short burst of Warp (about 2 seconds or a special attack) or an increase to Impulse speed compared to other Nebula's?

The Nebula variants package on armada2file has 5 seperate versions; Standard, Sensor, Nacelle type-1, Nacelle type-2, Hangar bay.
