i tried a prometheus with a slipstream drive once, transwarped into the borg's backyard lol

i'd like to see a prometheus, as a map item in v3 at least or in a future version :D

Perhaps. FO could be the first to finally correct the common size mistake. Many people think the Prometheus is like a sovereign, but in reality its (i think) about the size of an Akira.

Anyways, i thought since the Galaxy in FO lacks saucer seperation, the problem Cpt Ryan experienced should not happen.

Bless you Doca, anyways a single Prometheus in any fleet would be a nice touch, with or without MVAM.

the Prometheus is slightly larger than an Intrepid. An Akira is a very large ship, slightly longer than a Nebula, and about 3/4 the size of the Sovereign.
but to be honest i never really understood the Prometheus. Like the Defiant, it all leads to the size Vs firepower debate.

that said i too would like to see the Prometheus as a map unit :shifty:

@Cpt Ryan, at least the prometheous has a good 10-15 decks of warp core compared to the Defiant's 4 decks, so the massive phasers have some chance of actually being powered. But your point is valid.

Torpedo launchers use alot less energy then Phasers, which appeared to be the Prometheus's main weapons. So perhaps it's not such a Defiant sort of ship after all.

actually, i think pd is right about that. it does seem to have above average torpedo loadout to me.

didn't seem too excesive to me, it may have a lot of torpedoes but not too many tubes to fire them. it is supposedly equipped with the type XII phaser arrays (quite a few). the only other ship capable of this is the sovereign. so whatever shortfall of power is saved would be sucked out by those.
if starfleet can integrate the type XII on a ship of that size, why not upgrade (at least) the main phaser arrays of the galaxy, nebula & akira instead of just adding a few of the same type X ?

Again it was experimental, and doesn't it have 3 seperate warp cores? If so technically all 3 of them could supply enough power seperately and together to power a ship of such small size. All the power would probably go to weapons over things such as scientific facilities, and other things they prolly threw out.

but it didn't have most things thrown out. in fact for a ship it's size it quite heavily kitted out. not to mention it is one of the only (if not the only) ships in starfleet to have those holographic emmiters running all the way through the ship.

Well according to DITL it has the same amount of Phaser banks as the Sovern class at 15,000 less terawatts. Also it has 2 Pulse Fire torpedo tubes, the same kind as on the Defiant. The Phasers total output is about 20% weaker then the sovern, but I cant find anything saying it was anything but a combat ship.
