NX-01? Not in the 23rd century! The borg would just run them over without noticing, and say, "did we hit something?.......huh, guess not" Yeah, but in the 22nd century era, that would be mandatory. The Kelvin-type is a rather simple design, but I have no idea how 800 people would be able to fit in that tiny saucer. (Must be bigger on the inside! I know, I know, that's already been done, but its still fun to say) The weapons are the Kelvin were a little heavy for such a small ship, but vessels of her class sure would be a great addition to any fleet.

Fun as it would be to have some stuff from the new film (as map objects, events, whatever), I don't reckon they have any place in FO. At least not atm.
You realise that the good Mr. Abrams solved your problem for you already? Everything is bigger than the think it is. Just like that!

Spontaneously exploding, right? It also will cause other ships to spontaneously have crisis of existence due to the continuity errors it introduces into them.
Enterprise doesn't introduce continuity errors, it is a continuity error... it's presence should cause an instant loss.

I prefer to think they just have a crew of hobbits.

The Kelvin-Class is 1500ft long. A Los Angeles-Class submarine is 362ft long. There are 171 peope on board that submarine, and it's shaped like a hot dog. The Kelvin-class has much more room due to the saucer's disk-shape.
800 people wouldn't be hard at all to fit on board.

I just pretend Star Trek [the 2009 movie] didn't happen, it makes things much easier to cope with .I prefer to think they just have a crew of hobbits.

The Kelvin is 1500 feet long? Thats longer than the new Enterprise isn't it? I still think that 800 people is way too many for it's implied purpose. Besides, why didn't the Enterprise have both pulse and beam weapons later, aren't they better together? Pulse weapons are much faster firing, but the beams can drill better into a target, and can be better for pin-point shooting.

Ignore the rediculous supposed sizes of the ships... the models used don't match up to the size they claim.

I remember seeing shots in the movie that made the bridge look like it took up about 1/3 of the saucer. Remember when we saw the inside of the bridge through outer space from the window? Or the shuttlebays looking like they take up half the engineering section. I really enjoyed the movie, but the size mismatch was annoying.

The human brain is notoriously bad at figuring out size comparisons such as those. Just keep that in mind when thinking about "size mismatch". I'm sure the computer generated algorithm (which was I think based on NASA advisors) is accurate.

Well, I've seen it 3 times, once on Imax, and got the same impression each time. In ST V you get to see the proportions of the shuttlebay from outside looking in before going into the bay, and they seemed similar to me (the proportions). I really think they screwed up. And besides, it's not the first time NASA has made a grevious mistake. If you don't believe me, I've got the keys to a Martian landrover I lost somewhere out on the red desert.
NASA said they'd look into it, just as soon as they fix the hubble again and find Heide's missing bag of tools...

Well the big problem is JJ was so concerned about things like lense flare, he forgot that Star Trek needs several things far more
1.) If you are going to create a Deus Ex machine, you should probably have a good explanation for it past "Its red and liquid like"
2.) If you are going to be creating new ships etc. Remember that Star Trek fans will be paying attention to small and silly details
3.) If your storyline revolves around Time Travel, try to make the reason for said Time Travel mean something. A random Supernova that somehow Romulus didn't see coming? They didn't evacuate their Star System? You had enough time to create a brand new ship and design, but couldn't be bothered to figure out how to clear the area if the plan went off course? Come on people... that plot line is so weak even Berman is going "Wait... what?"
4.) Lens Flair is an effect you want to avoid not add.
5.) Money shouldn't come before mission. I know it does, but it shouldn't...
I apologize =/ that entire movie just irritates the snot out of me.

Exactly how do you evacuate six or more billion people from a planet in a few months (the Vulcans had 9 billion on their planet... and they aren't as heavily industrialized it seems as the Romulans)? No wait, a few years? Or even a decade?
. Guess you should just forget about finding them a place to live too
For the rest, I'd say it's just a matter of taste
. After all, shaky cam has been pretty popular... even though about a decade and a half ago it was unheard of - not to mention unwanted.
If you take a look at the bridge at 1:17 (YouTube- Star Trek (2009)) you can see that it is actually quite small compared to the saucer section on the whole.
