Elim built 2 Hyper arties and two perimeters in a competitive 1v1 against Boggz earlier today. It's not an instant game winner in a 1v1 but it can be one in a 2v2 or greater.

Yeah, even I think that hsa should be turned down a little bit. Probably changed to turret-building destroyer, and not the ultimate doom for fleets that consist of small ships (or even cruisers later).

lol i have seen them in less than 15 min

Oh Boggz , you can V-13 spam me to death all you want, but I'll never let you get an HSA out on my ass. (Especially if I buy it before the game lasts long enough to tech that high.)
I'll be back online in a few months, probably around June. Your solace should last so long?

Some save this post, and the game if it ever happens, for laughs and posterity.

We can get Yandon to record/commentary it, and we'll even include my stream of drunken profanity as an alternate audio track.
I make no pretense about being an expert player at this game, but I will play it, get drunk, and play the heck out of it some more. I do like to run a lot of simulations though, regarding certain Unit Vs Unit encounters etc. (Tyler didn't like my Intrepid Vs Galaxy 1v1)
We can make it a donation drive or something. Has anyone ever done that here before?
$5 to FO every time Professor J screams "Horse-Sh*t M*therF*cker!" Video Marathon.
Estimated Donation: $417CDN/$421US (Conversion Rate 1/25/11)

if it gets tuned down any more it wont be worth building. making hsa a huge risk since you are putting all your eggs in the tech basket (how often do ppl make ketracel research station, not very, it usually means hsa, just like imperial research means bortas). it takes all day to build and slowly moves around with no defence of its own, it has to rely completely on a fleet, which should be reduced size because of the money you spent teching up. so if u have a fleet big enough to protect the hsa from your enemy fleet then you already won since you managed to tech and have a better fleet at the same time. the risk has gotta have a payback, there is a chance you will not kill a single ship with it if your enemy catches you out. bortas can cloak and do their thing, which is often more powerful lol.
i think if it got made weaker then more fleet ships (like v13) would be a better investment of funds than teching for hsa.
anything hsa can kill in one volley is fast.
the only problem is sometimes a bit of lag. so i would be happy with hsa countdown getting a second or two more, that way people will have ample time to run away from the blast.

Sorry, but even Boggz couldn't stop me from getting it in a pretty serious (tourney semi-final) game, and I'm just a poor stupid elim. What makes you think you can with zero online gaming experience?

lol elim you're not a noob, you are one of the strongest players.
and j said he would be back online, so he has played online before.
i dont think hsa is weak, its definitely strong, but if it wasnt nobody would buy it (tech costs), just like bortas.

Granted I've probably logged onto Tunngle twice since October, but we can't all... "I rent my own hovel, buy my own internet, and battle off almost $700 in monthly student loan payments. It's no party, even when I'm having one. (somebody always plugs up the toilet, bad.)"
After I get back from NY, probably in late June, I think I'll host me a mini-tourney. Oh, and I'll award prizes. That's right. I'll make a fleet operation donation in your name if you place 1st, 2nd, or 2nd to last. (3rd place just means you failed at 2nd place; 2nd to last place means that at least you beat the guy in last place)
I'll participate. Will you?

instead of repeating your flawed claim, why dont u go test it for yourself? you will then see that you are wrong. i can assure you, i sat there and watched the hps drain from the vorcha, and it didnt die.

1.) It's a GAME (btw: you lost) and not a life supporting machine like a cardiac pacemaker.
2.) It's about balancing. If you play against an experienced player, you might lose even with "better" ships. So if YOU had the HSA and try to take out a fleet of sitting Vor'cha, I would say you are lucky.
If I see a fleet of sitting Vor'cha and I have managed to build two HSA without getting punched all over the place, its my win. You can say the same for a tac-cube. If your enemy is able to pull it out, you made something wrong. You did'nt raid, or you did'nt take out the construction node, or you let him gather the ressources while losing the control of a map... take it like you want.
In a real game, you have about two or three fleets destroyed an getting destroyed before the winner is clear. You try to build up a critical mass - its all about that. And you either try to stop your enemy from doing it (you destroy the ships of the enemy + raiding, so he dont got the ressources to build the critical mass and if everything goes wrong, you try to provoce a border clash in order to drain his fleet under the critical mass with your fleet.)
The HSA wont to a thing against a critical mass, because either the ships withstand it OR you have fast ships, that go out of range. The HSA is in my eyes only mighty against stations and very slow moving ships.
You made a tactical error by massing you fleet into one point without doing anything with it. Why didnt you take down the HSA with you "fleet"? I would have. You have cloaking scout? Why didnt you see the HSA? It needs a long time to be build... why did'nt you see that thing? I can look on it in many different ways, its every time the same: Lack of experience. Not that I'm better. I almost lost every online game I played so far, but also I learned some basic rules and no ally told me that I suck. So... even if I lose, there must be something I did right.
And a HSA would be one of my primary targets. Also the diamond would be one of my primary targets, like it is also to target warp-ins or miners/constructors/slow moving ships.

Why do you continue to post when you dont know what your talking about, yes this is about balancing and being able to destroy an entire fleet of ships with something so cheap is unbalanced its got nothing to do with well your playing a better player so you probly lose anyway.
How about adding a cube thats the same strengh as it is in the show? No you say? balance you say?
How about we make this cube cost on 500dil and 300tri? NO? wqhy on earth not it would have the same effect as the HSA on a large fleet. whats the difference.
Play online more and youll see why 2 HSA and there OP weapon with its massive area effect is so bad.
In the game where my enitre fleet of vorcha were killed my team was losing anyway, i sent my vorcha to do as much damage as possible behind enemy lines, then i switched to my base as it was under attack, when i flicked back most of my vorcha were dead and dieing and all gone by the time i pulled them out of the area of effect.
I would have lost anyway but thats not the point, its too powerful and too cheap and does not need anymore weapons.

I think that his entire point is that nobody else is stupid enough to let their opponent build 2 HSA.
Apart from that, the only other argument you could even offer was a big picture of Jesus. Hell, even that has a counter:
