Hope Class

There's been the talk about new ships for the Feds, so I thought that perhaps emphasizing the same kind of 'uses support' thing that the repair ship represents would be the most fitting.

Give them the Hope Class, with it's special ability being that it prevents life-support from being disabled on ships near it, and recrews them without a trip to repair.  (Recrew is explained by the fact that it's a flying starbase medical facility, and patches the wounded up in no time.)

It's wierd looking since instead of a saucer section, it has a sphere at the front, and it's a terrible fighter, but it's a medical ship, not a warship.  However, a fleet backed up by Hope-Class, and repair ships would be extremely irritating to try to eliminate, likely even annoying the Borg by making assimilation harder.

Though I don't like it [the ship] I agree it is what the medical/repair ship should be.  Also I think it would be better than the Akira kitbash minus the weapons pod, i.e. the Newton Class.  I like the Idea of healing the crew, it would also be cool if it could stop the spread of nanites, or prevent assimalation of all nearby ships with a wave spec. weapon.

By Hope Class, I assume you mean the Olympic Class like the USS Pasteur NCC-58925?

The Olympic Class was originally called the Hope Class on the drawing board, but they changed the name (making Hope an incorrect name for the Olympic).

I don't live in any part of the world that eats horse balls, I was joking. But yes, it does fit the bill .
