ok, with your discorvery class getting popular it will be in a future version of Fleet Operations as a Non Buildable vessel - something to hire or for secret features? ;-)
but at the moment i'm overloaded with the dominion to do list :)

I 100% agree! :D

Dominion and Cardassians are an integral part of ST warfare.

Perfect enemies for Romulans, Federation AND Klingons.

I just found something... perhaps this will help to get an idea of the overall look of the Discovery.

I found some untextured screenshots I took of the 3d model as a reference for the textures.

Hope this will perhaps help you, Optec. But do the Dominion first! :D

Good looking ship.

Attached is a untextured 3D model of my custom design: The Vanguard Class. It is a heavy cruiser designed during the Dominion war. It consists of a Sovereign Saucer, Sovereign Nacelles, and a custom and very small stardrive. Maybe it could be a non-buildable vessel in B5.

What about making a new thread for your own ship?
However, I have no idea which program to use to take a look at your model.

Ah, thanks... perhaps you could post one or two screenshots of the wireframe model in your thread for those who don't have ms3d.

Back to what I wanted to say ;):

Sooo... now that I'm back to the forums and Star Trek XI is about to premiere, I thought I'll do something about this old ship called USS Discovery.

I'm trying to update the design. Kind of a refit.

As the old 3D rendering software and its proprietary file types are of no use anymore, I'm doing it in vector graphics only. I'm planning to complete several views (top, bottom, side and front).

Before I stopped working on the 3D model, I only got to texture the saucer section. The aft section never got appropriate textures. So this is one of the "refit" elements, adding hull plating and stuff to the rest of the ship.

Also, I'll change the position of the nacelles to get it to conform with canon ships (bussard collectors visible looking at the front... had them behind the saucer until now).

However, this is a lot of work, as I have to do a lot from scratch and try my best to get as close to the 3D model as possible.

But I have finished the top view now. The rest should be coming in a few days / weeks. I hope I'll find time to do the other views. I hope the result will give a better image of how the ships is supposed to look like.

To anyone not interested in non-canon ships: Look away. ;)
