i hated the standing battles, just didn't seem cannon to me. i mean how often do you see two or more starships just sitting there exchanging fire without any movement at all (and i mean in any show/movie, not a1 or a2).

well actually in the TNG series when the enterprise was in a battle it was often sitting and exchanging fire :D

Fortunately, you can set your ships to LOW MOVEMENT AUTONOMY in A2

directors cut is only in armada 1

To Cpt Ryan: Okay, you don't like what it does to your formations. Some people do, so, since it can be turned off, why not keep it for those who want it?
better yet why not put those attack formation buttons back in? (orbit, straffing run & cloverleaf) that would seem a better idea to me.

I dont really care if its in or not, to me it seems kind of stupid as it WOULD take the FO team time to inplant it and over internet noone would ever turn the feature on and FO is first and formost a multiplayer mod :P

I was only seeing if we could have it in the Version 3 release. Of course it will be turn-off-able.

The attack formations... I had completely forgotten about those. I guess they WOULD be better than Director's cut because they're more user-controllable...

Are Formations editable though? Ive never heard of any Formation Mods. Although the FO team took the formations out didn't they? Maybe it is possible.

I don't see why it woudn't be. DOCa and Optec have a tallent for gutting and reverse-engineering code.

Yeah, i think he meant ODF code, which isnt illegal to modify :P , well thats assuming the formations are in the ODFs still If they aint In the exe you can look at what the original game did and design your own from that, which is sorta reverse engineering it. Yeah I hope they add some cool moving formations anyway.

i haven't got a clue where they are, ever since i first played beta 2 i've been trying to find them in the stock game but have come up with nothing :( , that cloverleaf attack pattern is a must to be included as it can really help the smaller ships survive in the bigger battles.

formations are moddable. Attack patterns are only moddable to a minimal extent. With a lot of work I have herd you can make a2 combat physics work like a1s and have ships automatically move around each other in combat.

That would require a custom set of physics, for each ship...that's a heck of a lot of time.

Nothing we want them to take on for Beta 3, as that could delay things for a year, or more, judgeing from previous delays.
