So while this will probably turn into more of a game balancing discussion, I must say that I've never been keen on the fact that you can take over Borg detectors just because they don't have shields. No other scout has to deal with a mining facility/other stations stealing it.
So I got to thinking: What if the detector had 1 hitpoint in shields? Then it could actually scout without having to worry about being "assimilated".
It's just never made sense to me that any race would try to kill all the Borg drones on a ship by brute force. It could even be a new passive called "EM disruption field" that disrupts transporter signals near the detector, but the field itself is disrupted by weapons fire. Or whatever we want to come up with.
I'm sure that there will be discussions on whether or not one can take over a borg ship by brute force, or if it matters, etc. I think the logic for this suggestion already speaks for itself. So there.

i agree that detector boarding is silly.
maybe give it a passive that requires it to be under fire before transporters will connect.
giving it even higher crew would also solve the problem, but is not really sensible as its still a scout.
i dont see it as a huge problem though as detector's have just high enough crew that u can escape before losing it if u are actually scouting and not just leaving your scout laying around.

Yeah, it's not a big issue, but luckily there are a few super easy fixes for it.

The clearly you have never met any Klingons before, or for that matter any Jem'Hadar. And then there is this

Who'd board a cramped Scout ship that is filled with 80+ Borg Drones?

Klingons would. Outnumbered 10-1? Who cares? Fighting Borg? Shiv them!

Har Har, Dircome.
I should have said who would do it successfully, or something.

i think detector should get either 1 shield hit points or make it so you can't transport onto the detector, cuz it takes 3 freighters and a mining station to quickly assimilate a borg detector EVEN if you're paying attention to it...

Personally, I think that removing their own ships defenses to take the ship should make up for it.

I think that most of the time when this happens, it's when the scout is near an enemy base without a nearby Borg fleet, so the loss of shields to take the Detector isn't immediately exploitable by other Borg ships. I could be wrong, though.

I always found this one funny, Borg players always seem to forget that putting a scout right up against my miners will lead to me capturing it. I see a Fed scout and think "damn, I'm gonna have to somehow get that outta here." I see a Borg scout and think "oooh hey imma board it and either get a free ship or make it go away."
I like with the ideas about requiring weapons fire to board the scout, and think maybe that should be given to other Borg ships as well (including assimilated vessels, since Borg ships are near impossible to board anyways.) Maybe call it a "scrambling field" or "em field" like in BoBW (although that one was not disrupted by weapons.)

Funny lost a saber to a Borg scout transporter once....

I've always personally liked the easy capture of a borg detector in that it makes them a little more interesting than other scouts. Not that it makes much sense or what not, but just more interesting.

It's a fun mini game, for sure.
It's just funny that other races are better at "assimilating" than the borg.
