Defiant Special Weapon

i was thinking, defiant has that critical shot thingy, it's not really very efefctive against small ships, since the defiant beats the poo out of them, so what if the defiant could have "evasive maneurs" special weapon, so that for 30 or 20 secs, it couldn't be hit by a torpedo, we already have something like that on a klingon ship, but it's larger than defiant and we have seen the defiant dodge torpedoes before in episodes ^_^

People think of Defiant as some kind of super-ship, but it actually isnt. For being a heavily-armed ship, its mass will also increase, which decreases maneuverability, If that special weapon is implemented in the Intripid class, I wont have an objection, But adding a maneuvering capability on a ship that is already overpowered by its class is a bit..unbalancing..

Just my opinion tho

well the defiant is not overpowered in terms of weapons, but it was the massive and powerfull engine assembly, that provented the defiant class to take off in the early start, its at DS9 that they work out all of the glitches in excact words of O'brien: "the ship is so powerfull it will shake itself appart" so we have a small ship and a very strong engine! And this is a perfect recepy for a very maneurable ship, that engine alone could power an intrepid class, so being in a ship half it's size, and half it's mass.....

well you know how i'm all obou realism ^_^ so what about givin mines to the defiant? it would become an entirelly new game strategy, minefields, and since we saw that in an episode, it would be extra sweet

I think the feds are ok as they are, they get free god damn powerfull ships, they have quantum burst and defiants special weapon is strong as hell for a ship its size!

i just agree with the strange voice, just keep it like it is and don't make super ships like scimtars or somthing i like teh defiant the way it is

it seems like we are losing persetive this mod is the fleetops mod and not ower mod. we are lucky we can put input in to it most mod teems dont like to have uther pepal teling tham haw thay wont the mod to be. so if opect doca cola detecter and so on duss not like an idea fine its thare mod let it go.

thare are meny more idea to come up with.

Hehe, but we still consider us a community-near project and are always happy for ideas and discussions.
But i think the final word is that the defiant class will stay near to the beta2 versions..
of course a defiant-type hero unit could be a whole new story, but that's far future

okay just had to ask ^_^ i understan that keeping the game ballanced is the most important thing, so, anyway you should expect many many many more "unusefull" ideas from me ^_^ , but since you already make the mod, why would you have to come up with ideas as well? that's our job , so keep theese kind of discussions on, and in the end, what sound the best will be put in

The defiant was built for one purpose and that was to fight the borg, It is overguned and overpowered it should be even more powerfull.

hehe well Hypercube that's one way of looking at it. Just wondering though, isn't "it all ends with a blue flash of light, kneel before the power of the United Federation of Planets." kind of a non-Federation kind of thing to say? So militant and aggressive. Picard would be insulted by your heavy-handedness and stuff. hahaha

You have to think of the race balance though when doing these things.

The defiant class was a joke from the start, I don't want it too powerful, I don't even want it being as powerful as it was on the shows.

I dont know how strong do u guys want it to be. Damn it cant be as strong as a sovie or even a galaxy, so it is fine now. For me it is maybe even to strong, especially hull-vise
