If I remember correctly, the Devs were planning on implementing something to make the above scenario more realistic, but I'm not sure how we could ever see B'rels or Defiants zooming around on their own--more an artistic/pretty detail rather than relevant for gameplay (and potentially distracting, who knows).

It can be implemented quite easily. You may remember that this feature already exists with the cloverleaf and strafing attack formations that were in A2.

I also remember that those formations had a habit of not working to well...
However, formations will be back eventually as the Devs said they were working on that: what I thought you were talking about was a "Developer's Cut" style implementation, so disregard my original comments if that's not what you meant

Yeah, it was this thing from Armada I which basically had your ships zooming around... hard for me to describe: maybe on youtube somewhere?  :sweatdrop:

Hmmm, or maybe I don't quite remember that right. Wasn't there something like that in AI? Or have a I missapropriated something  :crybaby:

It was definitely called "Directors Cut", but I don't really know anything beyond that...I could've sworn that it was in A2 and just made ships move and turn more dramatically (read: SLOWLY). I used to just have it on all the time

Sounds terrible. And the physics in A2 were awful compared to what they've done in FO. Hats off to the developers on yet another point.

Speaking about physics, does FO use the A2 Physics project or were the physics files made seperatly? The ships move pretty much the same.

I would prefer the sound and attack animation from ST First Contact. Make it shoot a burst of 3 shots but lower the damage they do to 33% of what they do now. As seen here at 22 seconds.

I couldn't be bothered to wait for that video to load, so I just went and found First Contact on my HD and used VLC... Problem is that after watching that little section with the Defiant, I'm now over 30mins into the film and showing no signs of stopping!

Stock A2 had a toggle option to alter the physics, slower physics that made it move more like FO (not as good, but better than the default).

While we're on the subject of attack pathing, are 3D paths possible?
I realise they would be somewhat constrained due to the reduced height/depth, but they would look oh so cool on such things as the Defiant :)
