well the warp core is contained within hull, while a phaser rifle from the outside could destroy the dish, so they would only need to penetrate any deflector shields to get to the deflector.

at least for a sovvie anyway.

think we found out how the ent E gets killed :D

Was the Enterprise's deflector vulnerability standard or a result of the Borg mods? The Borg had been messing with the ship for a while at the time.

Ordinarily, the Structural integrity should effect the dish too.

The Miranda as just a regular warp in would be nice imo, not so sure if Risner specific would fit her. By my understanding the devs portray Risner as liking her big battleships, not cannon fodder from the Dominion War.  :sweatdrop:

The Risner-specific ones I was thinking of were custom ones with tech not normally seen on a Starfleet ship, fitting with her being the more unconventional of the 2 existing avatars.

As I said; ships more in-line with the phase-cloaking Pegasus than a normal Miranda. She's the unconventional one with suspected ties to Section 31 and a ship that wouldn't get attention (like a graveyard ship) works for that.

Agreed :D.  Mayson has all the new-tech 'toys' like Quantum pulses and Type XV phasers, but Risner shacks up with the Big Guns and Carriers .  Girl likes her gunz BIG .

The Largest Artillery cannons in history, made by ze Germans shortly before WW2.  800mm "Dora" and "Gustav" used against Poland and then again at Sevastopol in the Crimea.

Rizzie would TOTALLY use these [/align]

Reminds me of the gun they mounted on the Galaxy-X :guns:, kicking Voodiehs' asses. If I understand Tyler correctly he wants something that looks like a Miranda 1 but surprisingly fires sth. like Miranda 2. Sneaky.  :naugthy:
I support it because I like to see canon ships :P.

Dr. Sigmund Freud would probably refer to sexual tendencies of the developers of that weapon if he didn't already.

Sometimes big guns penetrate big girls ships  :innocent:

Sigmund Freud would probably refer to sexual tendencies if he spoke to the Borg.

lol gustav and dora were impressive but impractical. they needed loads of train tracks to be laid down and loads of crew and fired expensive ammo. they were slow and they destroyed dora themselves to prevent the red army taking her lol.

they built them to use against the french who had turtled up like mayson after ww1 but they could finish them in time, they didnt see terribly much use throughout ww2 since planes were very important and moved much faster  than the very slooooooooow guns, which were more like e2s. like monsoon vs e2s.

That's why they're called "Siege Guns".  For Sieging, not Blitzing .

They were used to great effect in Sevastopol against layers of Russian defenses.

indeed they were used, just not a lot, they were impractical, in a fast moving war they had a slow moving gun, which didnt get used enough to be worth the money spent. would have been better to build some more stukas to fight off enterprise. :D

as i said, they arrived too late to do their original job of beating the turtling french. then they lost air superiority on the western front and couldnt use the guns effectively, on the eastern front they got some use, just not enough.

I'd settle for something as simple as boarding parties. Right now capturing ships as the federation is a pair in the butt.

The devs go with the logic that the modern Starfleet has no specialized marines, so boarding is meant to be less common. You'd need to hire mercenaries from Federation worlds or non-members.

Not my favourite approach for the more militant modern Starfleet, but it gives the impression they will only go so far from their preference.
