A Constitution and Miranda is planned as a map object, I was wondering if Risner could get to Warp-In a special customized version unique to her fleet.
Considering her slightly less 'textbook' approach and suspected connection to S31, it wouldn't be odd for her to use ships like them which are easy to modify and less likely to be missed. Someone willing to take on an attack wing in a Shuttle is also less likely to be put off by being the underdog.

lol i wouldnt mind risner getting a pair of mirandas in place of 1 normal warpin unit. each one would take up a warpin slot though.
each miranda could have the stats of a bug, and would probably not have a special. this would give you 4 ships immediately but the 2 mirandas are slightly weaker. so it wouldnt be op
also it would fill the warpin cap faster.
chances of getting mirandas would be quite low since most are gone and only risner struggles to stop them being scrapped.
connies seem a bit too old for my liking.

Prety sure cons and miranda's are only going to be map objects. The debs have said they feel those ships are too old for normal use

They are going to be map objects, that's why I'm asking if Risner can get special ones seperate from those normal ships. Ships similar to how that 'secret branch' used the Pegasus, not for normal use like a regular warship.
Starfleet is planned to be made more unconventional in future versions, and Risner is supposedly the specialist.

I want to see more mirandas.
Dont understand why the devs can say the miranda is too old but the excell not? makes no sense excell is way older.

The Miranda pre-dates the Excelsior, it's a Constitution-era ship.

yup we saw the miranda class in star trek 2 the wrath of khan as what appeared to be a standard ship, while the excelsior (the prototype of the design) was experimental in the following film.
i like the miranda, i personally believe that the miranda and excel 1 were so well designed that they refitted really really easily. while the connie was a good design at the time, but didnt refit as well, so thats why we see mirandas as late as ds9 but not connies.
the mirandas got their arses kicked in the dominion war as starfleet used them as cannon fodder a bit. but i bet there are a handful left, and that risner threatened several senior admirals with physical harm in order to get them in her fleet.

they were both from the same era but mabe the miranda came first im not sure, either way they are about the same age, but the excell 2 gets used but not the miranda 2 even tho its a very formiddible ship.

excel 2 just looks like excel 1. same as miranda 2 just looks like miranda 1. they do similar things as the later designs are tributes to the originals.
if you are talking about why the excel 2 is used more than miranda 2 then thats just dev personal choice. the miranda 2 is pretty powerful, i like that, its good that its only available mixed tech.
if you are talking about how the excel 1 is in warpin commonly but miranda 1 is not, we already explained how the miranda 1 is definitely older than the excel 1.

Being in Mixed-Tech also plays a part in it not seeing as much use, since many seem to prefer avatar bonuses over Mixed-Tech normally.

Im pretty sure that the miranda was even considered an old ship by TOS.

there has been no evidence for that, i severaly doubt it though.
the miranda is one of my favourite designs, even though it has no visible deflector dish. doesnt really feel like trek unless it has a giant dish

Considering the ridiculous level of cost and effort it must have taken to change the TOS Constiution to a TMP one, it does seem unlikely that the Miranda would have a direct TOS version. A precursor (like a Miranda-0) maybe, but all Miranda's are probably early TMP-style style.
No, doesn't seem very 'Starfleet-like' without a Deflector dish. They must have lost much sleep, knowing they had a ship without a massive, glowing bulls-eye on the front.

one thing that always bothered me is that picard lost his hair cos he was so scared that if you hit the deflector dish with an infantry level phaser that it would 'splode most of the ship. but the random aliens of the week seemed oblivious to the giant target which would make the ship explode.
when shields are up its possible that because the deflector is so powerful i can reinforce shields at that location and stop any damage.
but when shields go down they still ignore the deflector.

Too obvious to take the risk. After all; no one would seriously make such an obvious target, would they?
Still, they'd have to have enough power to cut through to the Warp core, anyway.
