He's the situation, right now it hardly has any advantages to capture enemy bases and construction yards.
When you are a federation player and capture a Romulan shipyard at best you can get a repair station for your allies and repair your own ships there.
What if this is changed.
A Federation player captures a Klingon shipyard, those dreaded Federation engineers come on board and study the Klingon ship designs from that shipyard and afterwards they can construct a federation version.
E.g. Federation captures Klingon shipyard, examine B'rel blueprints (like with the mixed tech research) and build a B'rel without cloak but with fed burst fire photon torpedo's and evasive maneuvers ability.
In my opinion this would give an extra impulse to fleet battles and make it all the more important to defend ones bases/shipyards.
Edit: i used Federation as an example, but this would apply to all races off course.

that is the main thing i miss from Stock Armada 2 the ability to capture a enemy con unit or yard and build their ships

Yards switched to make your own ships is a better choice.

Mixed tech in general is getting a change to make it more fun, but I do not think that we will get mixed technology from shipyards.

Why aren't there more mixed-technology designs in game?
The developers plan to add a few more specially modeled units for other faction combinations - so hold your horses. Note that mixed-tech will be extended in future versions, but will stay at native designs enriched with alien technology. Optec is not a big fan of hybrid vessels and he doesn't think they would work that well (hell, just remember one of these damn arrogant Romulans sitting in the command chair of a green-painted Vor'cha.. it's a nightmare!).

Mixed-Tech will receive a large redo in one of the future patches and we will address the issues with captured yards being useless

my opinion on captured yards being useless:
1) they arent comletely useless, you can use them for repairing, or if they are not in a tactical location you can decom them for resources
2) even though they have limited use, why should that be changed? not everything has to have a use when captured. some things are naturally more useful when captured, such as mining ships/stations can be used to avoid building your own. As the borg it can be funny to capture an enemy expansion, isntantly turning the expansion to your side, rather than blowing them up and having to bring your own stuff out.
3) if more uses are needed (they aren't essential, but would be ok) a useful idea would be to make it so that when you capture a shipyard or research station, you are permitted to do the analyse alien tech research. so instead of having to capture only a constructor (or have an ally of that race), you can capture any station to get the mixed tech.

mixed tech will receive large changes, but we do not want to include anything special for captured yards. ideas go into directions like giving captured yards the same construction options as mixed-tech yards

I agree with Tyler. I think that would be a much better option for a captured an enemy yard. And to make it fair, I'd say limit the types of your ships you could build from an enemy yard....or perhaps similar ship builds with different stats (i.e. lowered defense would be expected from different quality materials being used.)

Hm, perhaps if you had a "refit captured shipyard" ability that would be nice... but from the get-go? That's just ... waaaaay wacky

Well ik this isnt compleatly on topic (well it kind of is) but at some point in the past i have captured an enemy starbase and i was disappointed that i was unable to at least build a constuctor to be able to access mixed tech. Will this be addressed at some point in the future? (Now i just blow them up so i can watch them explode
)

That's a good question, I find it's quite a task to capture a starbase without dusting it, quite an investment, and from a storytelling POV, a starbase should have the same sort of info a construction ship would.

mayb yards, bases, and research stations could have the anaylise alien tech thingie, anyway another use for captured yard is...
... free resources just decom it and gain some resources for it instead
