it would be fun if you could have tasks to do for one set of mercs to get them to help you. maybe have multiple mercs on the map, and whatever merc you think u can beat easiest is the one you destroy and get the help of the other merc as a reward. like in the mongol campaign of AoE.

right for those who wanted cardassians as a playable race there is a mod laying around these forums that added them although still in the alpha stage its fairly stable and if the members of the team give permission then the latests builds should be able to become available

The Cardassians need to be put in this mod, there ships could have the potential to be dangerous, the Keldon class could be upgraded , and as a playable race.

The Cardassians were massacred over the course of DS9. From the start of the War with them being used as meatshields by the Dominon (Damar had figures showing most losses were Cardassian, rather than their allies), all the the way to the end with the razing of the homeworld, they were gradually being broken down.

By FO timeline, they're still trying to rebuild and aren't strong enough to count as a major Empire yet. They probably never will recover that far...

Well if the cardassians were able to build there fleet back up, and use there typical 3 ship pattern and ad a cloaking deavice to the keldon it may shift the balance of power, maybe?

Sadly, no.  They also lost hundreds of millions of lives.  It'll take a long time to get their population back up to even man the fleet to become a major player.  It's not just about building ships.

I suppose the "We wan't Cardassians playable!" threads are just another factor of life... just like  1+1= 2, up is up, and cheese is divine. :ermm:

Well i do reameamber that , the Cardassians lost close to 7 million pepole, assumeing they could start again a building program, and upgarde the Keldon class, build there reasources, up it could spell a hard time for the Federation. Question is the firepower of the Keldon about the same as an Excelsior upgrade?

and sovvie is underpowered threads. maybe we should start borg is UNDERpowered thread.

maybe have a map in a central cardassian colony, near cardassia prime but not cardassia prime, one that the jemhadar didnt cleanse. on that map its possible to play cardassians but not on others.

EDIT: it would take them way too long to rebuild, if they havnt already been forced into the federation, or conquered again by the klingons. we saw the defiant fire quantums to hurt keldons, if a excel upgrade has similar power as the lakota, and the lakota had similar power to the defiant, then yes an excel upgrade could hurt keldons.

7 Million soldiers had died by the time Damar began his rebellion, at least 700 million civilians were massacred by the Jem'Hadar after they got fed up of being outwitted by the rebels. I think that the number of dead civies we got (700 mill) wasn't even the final number... Garak said the reports were still coming in. Considering the Founders order was to kill all Cardassians, it is quite likely the Jem'Hadar was destroying all planets and colonies they were stationed on.

The manpower shortages, resource shortages, Shipyard shortages, Cardassian Union space under Alliance control and the Cardassian tech being noticably inferior to anything the Klingon, Romulan or Federation fleets have is going to keep them a minor power for a long time.

I like the Cardassians, i like there sense of duty, there alittle more reafined then the Klingons, and not as stuck on themselfs as the Romulans.

You're not the only one, they have quite a share of fans (except the stock A2 version of them). The FO timeline just prevents them from being a threat to anyone.

Thats the problem in A2 there just to easy to wipe out.
