It's debated which name is correct; Saber or Sabre. Both are valid and would fit for a Starfleet vessel, but canon never brought the spelling up (Sabre).

People say it both ways  :P.

There was even a thread about it.  Consensus was that it could be whatever we want it to be :D.

it should be what the devs want, it's their game

Their game, not their ship.

regardless as there's no consensus about the spelling its up to the devs as to what it will be called in fleet ops. i dont really care as long as i can tell what it is. :P

So if I say "Sabre", do you think you can figure out which ship I'm talking about?

Or would you like a powerpoint?

On a side note I just looked at that image I posted... and what the hell is a Miranda III?

now I am doubting the accuracy of any of that image... but hopefully the sizes are correct for the purposes of this thread..

The sizes of the canon ships seems fairly decent, but fanon tends to sneak in everything... it reminds me of the Saratoga from Wolf 359, must be a fanon designation for that type of Miranda.

in the image they have just numbered the variants. so the excelsior II was actually just the refit excel used as the lakota. the mirandas are all original mirandas, just the three variants we have seen. i dont know what they were thinking when they put that miranda in emissary as the saratoga. they should have just used an original miranda, or a more common ship the excel. the miranda was kinda old even by BoBW.

Yeah the Lakota Refit was basically the Ent-B model from Generations that they felt like digging up for DS9.  I assumed that it was to convince us more that an Excelsior Class might stand a chance against a Defiant-class vessel if it had some extra upgrades.

Yeah the Miranda was a bit old by BoBW, but as we've seen the sassy little Miranda's were still definitely around to get slapped to shit by the Dominion well into DS9.

Seems like by the time Voyager was well into it's prime (sorry for those of you who hated Voyager) the Feds really were relying mostly on the newer post-First Contact age of vessels.  We saw them using the Prommy, Galaxies, Defiants, Akiras ...

In fact I think I'mma go make a thread about possibly adding the Lakota refit to the Warp-in as a special treat :).

That would be great!

I had heard some "speculation" and I think an acknowledgment fro Optec that this might be a possibility but no confirmation.  I think that would be a pretty cool idea though - to have them be veteran status'.
