Because starships work just like cars... Loss of a nacelle is going to effect the warp field (or kill you), not change the direction

I am with you here. A car can lose one of the front tires, its just harder to control.

As for ships with a single nacelle, I was playing Legacy, and an early, pre-refit version of the Akula/Apollo class has a single nacelle. I say Akula/Apollo, because in SFC, its Akula, and in Legacy, its Apollo. The Kelvin was part of the refit for this class, though with only one of the nacelles being for warp.

I dont think Tyler was agreeing with that statement, anyway the Akula/Apollo class isnt canon so making an argument using it as an example doesnt really help and the Kelvin only had 1 nacelle. The other portion was the secondary hull.

Slightly off there Destroyer. The Akula always had 2 nacelles, it was the Saladin Class that was a single nacelle Destroyer.

Well, maybe after Legacy came out with the pre-refit version. Before that, they never showed a pre-refit version. So in the original SFC, the refitted model for the Apollo was called the Akula. When Legacy came out, (or maybe some other TMP games after) the Akula was renamed Apollo and the old name was filled with something else that had 2 nacelles.

They had a TOS/ Pre-Refit Akula in Klingon Academy, and the TMP Akula has always been the Akula Class (R) for Refit.

(Shrugs) Alright. I still remember the name Akula being attached to the ship I saw in SFC.
