Ai Defence Policy

Just some ideas I thought I'd toss out there... what about a base scale for exponential balancing
3 scouts to 1 destroyer
3 destroyers to 1 cruiser
3 cruisers to 1 heavy cruiser / dreadnaught
3 dreadnaught to 1 battleship
3 battleships to 1 station / base
with turrets representing dreadnaughts / heavy cruiser and the likes (makes the most sense in terms of the supposed firepower in the show)
This would address the fact that starbases and in general your home base is very underpowered despite the fact that they essintially represent the central and core facet of ones entire strategy, without them you are long gone. I guess I am just looking at this from the old style RTS's and some modern issues where it is much more difficult to wipe your enemy out, where as in fleetops (and I know they are rebalincing) as soon as that starbase falls their is virtually nothing in your base with the ability to stop the attack at that point.

I agree with what everyone says, I just hope that all this defence talk doesn't go unheard. I do think that scale might have to be changed, if we are to use it. If my calculations are correct, that would be like 243 scouts to take out a starbase. I think that many scouts would be ridiculous, and I do not think you would need anywhere near that many. But I do agree starbases should be better, I believe that early in the game the starbases should be twice as powerful as they are now. But later in the game, there would be upgrades. Nothing too good, just like adding another phaser and increasing shields and hull plating. There's my two cents.

I like how things are. My 16 BOPS should kill a starbase easy as they do.

But that simply encourages destoyer spamming. And we have seen Starbases (well really only a weapon modded one) take on several hundred ships, But anyway I would say that starbases are not nearly so defenceless. Also I've always seen scouts as more fighters than actual scouts >_< I still hate the venture for the simple fact that I look at it and I think "that could be a danubeRhaz wrote:I like how things are.
