Alright, I'll be honest, I've never been very good with working with the AI files
but is there any way to change the AI's behavior about its home base? I've noticed that in most cases whenever you get a minimum of 16 units, you can simply overwhelm any defence that AI is boasting. I guess maybe becuase I play on the defensive I am a little dissapointed, but I think even the medium and hard AI's don't put up a signifigant point to fight for their base. and once their back is broken they just give up.
I am guessing online it is different. I just feel that the AI gives in to easy, because by the point you are able to invade a base with signifigant force (becuase lets face it, what it really boils down to is taking out the starbase, once that's done its over). So maybe make bases and construction schema's as well as defence less reliant on the starbase.

How about better, more expensive turrets? Better yet, additional weapons on the starbase that can be purchased as upgrades...

I totally agree with that, though that could lead to bunkering in MP games...

me too, and the "bunkers" can be flushed out, if the hyper arty ship is given that extra, more focused weapon for a single target that people want

I'd like to see all of those ideas in the game!
Though I'm a bit sceptical about those upgrades. But as it will be done as well as everything else... ^_^

All it would do is give the starbase a bit more *ooomph* to it. I find it kind of sad how pathetic they are now. Also, with upgrades its a gradual process, it's not like you start the game with a superfortress or anything.

yeah well i love the idea of starbases being more powerful because right now they arent starbases they are just outposts
maybe add an extra type of starbase u can construct like Deep space nine for the dominion
or Tiger Core for the klingons something with the ability to hold off ships
and as for turrets i would love turrets to be more strong it would really make u think about what u attack with
and makes the romulan arty ship more useful same with the Steamrunner

Well their range is just too small, I think their range should be like the dominion arty has now. Its stupid that ships with long range have to fly for like 50ms to get the arties in range :-S

Exactly. Also, when you watch the show, it seems like all the stations have more than one weapon. Even DS9, a mining station, seemed to have an arsenal built right in.

The federation did a full defense refit on DS9. They added many more phaser arrays, and many many more photon torpedo launchers than it previously had.

Still, if you look at the weapon emplacments, most had to exist before the feds got there, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to integrate into the pylons so well.

I dunno, maybe they just got rid of some docking ports or something? Or maybe the turrets are... eh... Magical!
