It wouldn't make them TOO over powered but it would make the starbase last a little longer (unless 5 auto assims come in and just decrew it)

Prehaps allow some mining station def upgrades as well for all races (IE: a few raiders will be forced to leave fast, moderate sized raiders will take damage, and the quick reaction force may get a few easy kills, larger attacks will wipe them out)

Past that, I think that the romulans really need better turrets, as it is their turrets really suck unless a LOT of resources are dumped into them, because you ahve to build the transmitter AND  the turret.

i happen to like them.

although i think it would be good gaming manners to not make loads of them in 1 spot and cloak them without asking if people's computers can take the pain, as that seriously kills framerate on weak computers. i remember once i lost half my fleet to sutee's field of turrets cos my fps was about 1 or 2.

Ah that might be some thing like my oops with trying a self replicating drone....gone for 30 seconds to get a drink and wham 200 and counting dots filling the screen and the game was acting like stop motion photography :blink:.  Sounded like my Springstien tape when the felt fell off and the tape was not in constant contact with the head..he was doing a bit of the chipmunks crossed with Voyager's computer from the episode "ONE" :sweatdrop:.

The Romulans are getting mine layers. But what did you have in mind for the Romulans, a hospital with 5000 plasma torpedoes?

The Rom mine layers are returning ? Sweet.

And no, I was thinking just take the current rom turret, bump the price up a tad as needed, and remove the need for the singularity generator, and of course make some basic research stations required to build them.

That way, they can build a turret or two as needed, the same as the other races, rather than have to sink cash into the generator THEN sink cash into the actual turrets.... then often build extra turrets because hey, your investment may last longer that way. Of course for that very reason people often just dont bother at all because it takes too long for too much and is (Most times) just not worth it.

That costs more than a klink heavy weapons platform.

The transmitter takes just over a minute to build, as does the turret.

So unless two or more constructors are involved in setting up the defense peremiter, it will take at least several minutes, for more cost than a HWP, to get up a single turret that does less damage and has less defense.

The only real useful feature of any of this is if you have the resources building the generator to speed up your ships special energy regen when they return from a fight to repair, at that point you may build a couple of turrets at the proxy yard too, but if you do that.... why not just build a few extra ships.

that applies to my old computer, my new one handles cloak much better. and i would expect you to try exploit things like that, you're not even hiding your trolling any more.
