HMS Dreadnaught ( "Dread Naught", for non English speakers, means "I'm afraid of nothing" ) was a monster among the battleships of its era. A "dreadnought" IS a monster among the battleships of whatever era it's built. Yamato was a dreadnought among WWII battleships.
A 120000 ton battleship would be a dreadnought among 100000 ton battleships. Specially if it brings a similar (or bigger) difference in firepower, speed, operating range, etc. BUT if the displacement norm for battleships becomes 150000 tons, it stops being a "dreadnought" to become "an outdated battleship".
It's a relative term, not a real class in itself. So the FO terms for the biggest Dominion vessels make sense.
