You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

No they dont need a artillery ship, they are fine as they are. In fact I dare say they are still the strongest faction in the game.

the race redos are still progressing as planned, and we are still working on it, they were never delayed ^^

cant help it prof j, force of habit, this game is based on star trek not babylon 5, it has to use most of the baseline from all the recent ds9 TNG and voy seasons and whether you like it or not, it uses star trek canon, most of the ships are star trek canon, most of the weapons are star trek canon, most of the map objects are also star trek canon... the idea to say it isnt, is the moment it uses nothing from star trek and build a completely new game off the engine.
cant wait for the race redo

Not blaming ya- I just get to say that I'm more of a strat. game fan than a star trek fan.  Sure I catch the show on TV now and again, but I get "Pwned" in these 'discussions' the tre... err, 'fans' like to have.  As long as the game itself stays fun, I'll be around.

yep we will continue to try to find a good balance between the Star Trek universe and gaming

indeed, i like the game thats why i am here, a few oddities i dont like but in their own way just as useful.
but to be fair to you prof j, as optec said, there is a balance between FO canon and ST canon, at this time its about 70% st canon to 30% FO canon. in the end though, its not the discussions that matter, its who is better in an mp match that goes
.back to the steamrunner though, thanks to these mp matches, i know more then i did before, the steamrunner is useless without a small escort of ships because it can be destroyed easy, the reason why i ask to see if it was possible to add a small phaser strip is so it can defend itself more better. tell you something, its better then the nebula class

I think part of the point of it is that you need to protect it.  If it could defend itself better you'd see them do a lot more damage, when it already can do a lot.

thats not what i mean, the track record for torpedo hits is usually 70%, for the steam runner its 50% and even then the reload takes forever. by then a small monsoon could of destroyed it by then

What on Earth are you going on about?

In my experience, Steamrunners are really powerful, assuming they have some sort of escort (Even then they're generally targetted and destroyed first because people fear them).

earth is dirt.
the torpedo accuracy and phaser accuracy. torpedoes have a great chance of missing unless you missed a couple of battles against feds, the phaser hit however is 100% everytime. the steamrunner torpedo against a moving warship is 50% and the reload is a very long time before it would hit its target but adding a weak phaser, like the saber phaser at medium range could give the ship a small chance of defending itself better then a building destroyer torpedo which is not really effective against ships anyhow, i have already tested it and know its ability. now if that small ship miss ratio and big ship hit ratio is in effect for the steamrunner torpedo, then what are the odds it would destroy say a b'rel before it destroy the steamrunner. a steamrunner is classified a cruiser and should act as such, meaning it should be able to destroy a destroyer without any problem.

That's why you send other ships with the steamrunner.  How often do you just have a single steamrunner, anyway?  They come with 2 other ships.
Steamrunners are mainly seige ships. They're meant to take out stations, and they do it well. Cruisers aren't supposed to be able to destroy destroyers in every situation. I think the class is mainly based on size, not role (though I could be wrong).

Torpedo miss rate against a small destroyer is 40%, against a medium, 20%, against a large, no miss rate. Miss rate is independent of speed. Some ships have special reductions, but only a very few. Ship roles are specially assigned and a Steamrunner in this version is not a destroyer killer, just as a Negh'var is not a destroyer killer.

Dear Canny,
I think you should take a step back and think about who's in charge of this mod. Throwing "facts" around doesn't always sound the best (especially when it's something that's really just speculation). I've kept quiet about most of this so far, but you're very vocal and have this kind of superiority attitude thing goin on. I really wish that you'd just take a breath, step back, and go: "hmm, this ship isn't the way that I would do it. Maybe I should ASK for a change instead of throwing around "facts" that say it NEEDS to be different".
That's the way you get people to listen, in my opinion.
Otherwise, Mal and I will always be there with the smilies
