I more tend to think that tom was talking about hotkey use in a configuration like seen in Warcraft III for example.

And if I got it correctly; if you goup up several ships with special weapons using the same hotkey, the game decides by the priority of the button slot out of the weapons odf-file.

if FO had a customizable keyboard shortcut feature (i.e. ability to assign any key as a shortcut to any ability) it would go a long way towards placating us keyboard junkies.

Hrm well 3.1.1 has only be out a short while.  Optec and Doca implemented some features to try and bring those two factions up to the early game capabilities of the others and I have seen both races perform well so far.

Let's give it a little more time to test online before we answer that.  Sound ok?  ^-^

Well... back to topic. How useful is the new phase plate ability found by you guys?
I tested a little around and think it's a good compensation of the early game weakness of the Rhienn.  ^-^

It does work pretty well.  Good enough to cloak and run off for sure.

Also good enough to stay and fight for a bit :D

Well my point about dominion and romulans was that they must be much weaker when something like V-13 is actually cheaper than Leahval and by a hundred tritanium.... what's up with that:)? And we know that dominion if anything is stronger. Romulans cost too much, way too much it seems. So Leahval is like 529 d and 258 trit, and V-13 is like 550's d and 150's trit. Makes sense?

Keep in mind that the Leahval has a HUGE offensive output just through the metaphasic disruptor being used at minimum, 3 times.

I think if you gave 13's stats to Leahval I'd say take away the disruptor;)

I need to mention that the dominion have a completely different cost structure.  If they had a similar economy to other factions, the V-13 would be somewhere around 800-900 instead of 550's.  Not to mention puretech loves on it's V-13 by giving it +6 to all stats  And the romulans have always been steep because they have a high system value and can regenerate shields and subsystems faster.  So far the Rhienn Band-Aid seems to have helped. :D  We're still playing away to figure out if any race can pull one over on the other.

Aye, and the Leahval comes out QUICK while the V-13 requires the SUPER expensive 2nd tier yard, a Prototype ... none of which is cheap or quick.

D'derix requires all those things save the prototype and it costs twice as much. The overall point was costs over benefits. I don't know, maybe you find it a bit different than me, but somehow I feel the whole tech tree is a bit overpriced. V-13 may require a prototype and a second tier yard but it doesn't stop it from being a more common spamm ship.
