Feds Early game

That was "old" Ray before we helped him-ish... and the rest of the thread was in response to the nth thread he had posted about the Federation being woefully underpowered, without any actual proof in the form of testing, written discussion, or statistics. We also did try to help him numerous times, but he hadn't believed any of us.

...but anyway, I hope you are not insinuating that any of my posts were insulting on this thread, because none of them were.

Okay, i'm not sure if i agree with Ray here. I'm not sure if from the sounds of things he is approaching his arguments from an intellectual and professional manner and thus annoying the community by appearing like a spam poster about the same problems.

However this could suggest he needs a little tuition and help developing his game. Some of us take longer to understand mechanics than others? It could also mean perhaps he is a bit younger than some of us here or used to more simple games and will need help understanding the more indepth mechanics that lead to the generalisation of Offense, Defense and System values??

More importantly, and i hope you don't all jump on me here for being a new member, but you are all being increadably rude, seriously immature and showing a lack of the intelligence you are all ribbing him for not having.

You do not insult someone because they never ever agree with you. Game balance is a difficult thing just because of the variables involved when you make sides having different stat units instead of carbon copies. As soon as you involve more than rock, paper and sissors to the game it becomes more complex and more difficult.

There are a number of things that could result in Ray saying what he has and no matter how often he posts these things you have NO RIGHT to attack him directly with insults and mockery. No matter how well hidden.

As a new member here i am appalled at this, especially considering the rest of the site seems to contain manners of a high standard. I think you should all say sorry and consider this.

Insulting someones failings elsewhere in life, or bringing them into focus does not counter the argument they have brought up. It is a false way of arguing.

OH to the poster in the first page who was offensive. Bang out of order and i'd love to see you do that to certain people in real life. Don't act like that on the internet just because you are "unseen" and "unnacountable", eventually you'll do it in real life and get the shock of your life.

since your referring to me i might as well reply...

and since your new i wont dig at you for not reading mor around the forums but this was posted after weeks of ray constantly posting thesame thing about feds and many of us offering him stratergies and also games so we coudl tech him but him constantly ignroing us...

it wasnt a random post but something built up over time... If Ray320 was a random stranger on the street ranting i would ignore him so that wouldnt be my response, but if ray320 is an aquantenc eof mine constantly moaning, like in real life, ill give him a piece of my mind...

apart from the numerous posts he made about the feds like these

Then Ray320 finally played a game online with me and dominus and after one game he quickly posted this

then he went on to make numerous posts and threads like his best game ever thread where he gloated laods about beating the person trying to teach him, and that is why Ray320 is spoken to how he is...

Its not like people automatically spammed at him for no reason ever, it was built over time...

like i said your new so you wont know any of this but i suggest you do your research next time...

I have read some of his posts. As i said at the top of his post i don't agree with the points he has made, or the way he argues them. Personally i find that he can also be quite offensive in the language he uses. However that doesn't mean you will win an argument by being offensive back.

Either ignore him in that situation or post an intelectual remark that demonstrates why he is wrong. Unless he has actively in this post been offensive you cannot also bring his previous "insults" to bear. A man cannot constantly live in the past. We would never get anything done!!

Now i have not read all of his posts because to be frank i am a busy man and to read all the previous posts on this website would be tiresome and somewhat boring! However i am a firm believer in manners and in intelectual arguments.

Stating that someone is rubbish at the game in practice does not mean that they do not understand the theory of the game. Coaches are a prime example of this. Many coaches have a theoretical understanding of the game beyond a professional player of that sport but cannot match the proffesional in an actual match.

Therefore you must consider his arguments and counter with one of your own. Or simply ignore his posts. Replying with "You suck, your rubbish, you've not played any other team... you are plain rubbish" is pretty harsh and just begging to end up in a flame war.

As i said it is rude, immature and a disapointment in anotherwise polite community.


As for Ray, despite the fact you haven't been rude here many of your other posts do reveal a somewhat "younger" personality and one that is similar to this situation. If you don't like what these people are saying perhaps trying to find a new way to phrase your posts is a good idea?


Overall i just think people should be more polite online, the "out of sight, out of mind" attitude of the internet is not good. It encourages anti social behaviour.

I'm sorry but if someone gloated and insulted someone after a match like some do online, or called another person rubbish because i constantly disagree with a subject in real life... I would fully expect them to end up in a lot of trouble, i think a lot of people say harsh things online because they know that they aren't going to end up thrown out of the pub, bar, club, shop, building... or just hit in the face or put in detention etc.


Overall if hes that much of a problem speak to the moderators about it, surely this is what they are for?

I'm sorry if i have offended people, i have not meant to but i also feel like perhaps someone who is irritating and perhaps difficult to convince of things has lost enough respect that people can be downright offensive... I just don't see how it can be right. There were many posts of people saying what you said was harsh as well.

Um, why was this opened up again?  The last post until today was April 15, basically 2 weeks ago.  And plenty of people have already told Mark that he was out of line.  And since then Mark has help Ray with his game.  So I have to ask, why was this opened up 2 weeks later to rehash a sore spot that's already been settled?

i already like this anthony guy, he seems very inteligent, either hes A. very wise and inteligent or B pshycic

as to dom, dude i havent gone around saying im better then everybody now and im the best, im just sharing what i thought were some paticuularly well fought out battles, i paticulary talking about the 2v2 with me and mal because to me that was the best game, just ask mal, from our pooint of veiw it seemed alot different, maybye you guys knew all along, but you huys having cloak freaked us out, and made us feel like we were being lost, remeber we didnt know your situation till we attacked, and you then told us

actually mal, i belive mark said, dom you play feds more then i do, you can help ray lol

even so, i still find people attackign me tho they disguise it its quite plain to see it, all ive ever wanted were for my ideas to be accepted and considered,

i also notice dom that those were only the federation posts, you didnt post any of the other posts about roms or planets, or mercenaries and such, where i was attacked

To be fair Ray i do disagree with your opinion of the Federation, if you read my recent post about the game against 3 Hard computers (FFA obviously) you will see why.

I'm not taking sides here... Anyways this is all done and dusted. As its a dead post lets leave it that way

It's cool.  And Ray is a lot better than he was, and we can't expect him to completely change overnight.  The same goes for all of us, I suppose.

Now that the sappy stuff is out of the way, the Federation has some great early game.  I've even been practicing with Risner and finding out she might not be so bad, afterall.  We'll see.  Dom and I are still experimenting to see if we can get some life out of her avatar.

well this post was mainly targeted toward risner, however

im still not sure about the use of the moonsoon it seems like itd be a nice craft in early game, not so much for attacking but defending, howeveer, it kinda becomes useless in my opinion if you cant get it till chassis 1 because i dont think it has much use,

mind you im not talking bout any stat changes, but i want to know has anyone used it effectivly?

Well, I was able to beat a few people with Risner Monsoon support over the past few weeks... but that was more an artifact of them not being extremely good, then brilliant use of the ship on my part. So I don't know. It absolutely kills destroyers with its special, however. Unfortunately, the fact that its build time is relatively slow  and its weapon range is short makes it a pain to use. The only way I can see it becoming more effective is if for Risner it gets a build speed upgrade to allow one to amass it more effectively (Not much point building that AND Sabers if the Monsoon builds slow enough to allow your enemy to simply outmaneuvre those short range ships because you can't get enough Sabers to corner them). As Mal said, some more testing is definitely in order

well i definetly think it needs medium weapon range, but i think it should maybye have faster build time, and not require first chassis, 

maybye its special could require first chassis, jsut to even it out with saber a bit more, but i feel like its not used to its full potential, especialy with mayson who is more defense oriented, the moonsoon is a more defense oriented ship and i can see use in defending bases with it
