Dom Fighter too strong?
You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

First let me say I absolutely love this most, its one of the best Trek mods I've ever played in my life, the entire presentation is amazing. That said, the only thing I've noticed is the Dominion Fighters (the little crab looking ships) seem a bit too strong to me, in DS9 it seemed they were weak individually and got there strength from groups of them. Not to mention Defiant Classes seem to thave issues destroying them.
Other then that, great mod, I look forward to trying it online some time.

I recall a topic discussing the stats for the dominion fighters and it was stated that the stats for them were messed up.
This will be fixed in the new release though which is currently going through final testing.

welcome to the forums, i believe you are referring to the A20 attack destroyer, commonly called a bugship. this WAS featured in ds9. they are too strong mainly because of collision, which everyone avoids. without collision i think they are about right.
@andre27 i believe you are referring to the fighters launched from the carrier which were never featured in ds9, they are the ones with the stats problem.

he also said that he saw them in ds9, the only small dominion ship seen in ds9 was the attack destroyer.
EDIT: he also mentioned the defiant class had trouble beating them, not the case, in an early engagement the defiant destroyed 5 and disabled 1, while taking little damage. this was before the federation had a chance to examine the technology and adapt with useful counters. i believe he might be drawing conclusions from the episode Valiant, in which a defiant class required phasers and 6 quantums to take out one of them. which was silly. chalk that up to poor writing.

actually the bug ships in FO are quite ok, just the collision is to much.
my 2 Cents about the dom bug ships:
Pretty much every newer fed ship is quite superior to the bug ships, only thing that made them look powerfull at the start, was the fact that they could fire through the shields and so there was no defence. After that got fixed these ships were in ship vs ship combat quite weak, but the pure mass of em compensated that very well. The Dom had better ships, like there battlecruiser :-)

i think they are advanced ships tech wise. its just bad luck for the dominion that sisko found one and starfleet figured out how to counter them. they obviously shared this tech with the romulans and klingons, and the borg assimilated the information at first contact.

Starfleet was able to counter them before Sisko got one, I think. I can't remember exactly, but I think Sisko got it after the war started while Starfleet shields were already adapted when it started.

i remember differently. the episode where sisko stole the attack ship was the 2nd episode of season 5 "ds9: the ship", the war started at the end of season 5. the episode where weyoun comments that starfleet engineers have adapted the shields was the last episode of season 5 "call to arms". this was named the second battle of ds9, the dominion captured the station.
the defiant handled the bugships in seasons 3 and 4 i think because it had ablative hull armour.

Really? I haven't seen the show for a while.

Actually, one thing I'd like to have changed is the flight pattern. I'd like a more defensive pattern (where fighters keep formation). Because when they break formation it makes them easier to P0WN.

i heard in another thread that the devs have redone the fighters and made them cool

Yes, they are fully automated now and behave more like what you'd expect a fighter to do
