You feel like a battlecruiser is too weak or a race too strong? Go ahead and discuss it here :)

To bad sabres are so slow. Monsoons and Intrepids have faster speeds.

with hyperimpulse they can get up to 130, only 10 shy of the int/mon. with long range that makes them interesting if u can kite. it would be quite a bit easier if cover fire didnt exist, as that will sometimes stop your ships. but at least if cover fire stops a ship, it will be missed by all weapons for a few seconds.

The Intrepid moves at the same speed as the Hyper-Sabre, they're both 130.

yes, my mistake, stupidly lumped int and mon together.

sabres can kite ints quite well. although the monsoon will appear and get auto targeted then take half damage from your sabre, meaning you do almost no damage.

There aren't many ship classes that are really useless. If you don't know what to build with Klingons, start with the canon stuff - all of it is great(the B'rel needs good micro and knowledge when to use it though, against Romulans never leave home without it). You'll get into the use of the other ships later on. There are ships that have quite a restricted use or are dependent on the micro to use them efficiently(Veqlaragh for example). However, every race has its so called baseline units on which you may focus first. You'll see that the unusual ships can be game deciding under certain circumstances, whereas they appear useless in others(Vutpa against Sangs/E2s, hehe).

And then there is the ChonaQ. Don't build it.  :D

actually i disagree on the chonaq. the devs are dirty liars with its offensive value, it looks so low, but the chonaq actually hits hard. the chonaq has way less offensive value than a vorcha, but is a good deal cheaper in all respects (including time), has no tech requirement. and does more dps than a vorcha while its power lasts. that means you have to think before you commit to fighting, but if you get it right, that extra damage will pay. make an imperial yard at your second expansion, then add chonaqs to your fleet of battle yard ships. when the chonaqs run out of juice, the other ships still fire, so you wont be left with a fleet doing nothing. and the chonaq isnt even that expensive.

dont trust its horrible stats, that thing is a mobile giant space gun. and if your allies add a few dirt cheap c11s to the mix, they can repeatedly use the starting special to add energy. each c11 can add 20 energy back. so 3 c11s can add 60 back to every chonaq in range. thats quite a bit more death. i wonder if the romulan transmitter/singgen can add energy back to a chonaq.

Sadly the singularity transmitter only works with vessels using a singularity as its energy source, aka Romulan ships :)

Oh and a new model for the chonaq is high on todo. brrr! what an oldy

oh well, thats probably for the best, sing gens supporting some chonaqs could be strong. the sing gens are tough to kill. c11s do a similar job but remain vulnerable to weapons.

maybe something a bit less flat, something that looks industrial/machine like rather than like a bird. something that matches its no nonsense weapons and slow speed.

Hmm, I guess the design is also a point why I don't use the ChonaQ, it's quite ugly.
I'd probably use it if it wouldn't waste firepower on dead ships. I once proposed to give it a pulse disruptor instead of a beam, as if it was a single one of the Negh'Vars warship guns. I think that would eliminate its worst weakness.
Additionally it doesn't have a cloak, is quite fragile and needs the imperial yard, which is many bugs for me as a TaQ'roja player ;).

actually, according to dom it doesnt waste power on already dead ships any more. so it doesnt have that big downside.

Hmm, okay. So there is still three downsides to go ;). Perhaps I'll give it a try, against stuff like rhienns it could be better like a Sang after all, since it doesn't miss. But still it's slow and can't cloak out :/.

against rhienns i think it would be quite good. they are weak and the chonaq is very strong and always hits as u say. if the romulan isnt careful and cloaks late, they could easily lose the rhienn.

lack of cloak changes your strategy. you should have some kbqs or qawduj around to tank for it (vorcha wont tank, they are stronger). it also means you have to choose your battles more carefully. another idea is to use chonaq more for defending near a yard. then the lack of cloak and speed is mitigated and the heavy weapons can do their thing.
