Some manufactuers actually did suply end users with no-cd/s or modifyed executables. I seem to remember a few titles where there was substantial compatibility issues with integrated copy protection on the disk working with certain optical drives. But that was a few years ago. I havent seen or heard of that practice continuing since software piracy has become such a huge issue now. I wish I could remember what titles it was and what developer it was that was offering its end users modifyed exe's....
