Hello,

I am starting to map edit now, but every time I try to change the map size, the editor crashes.  No mater what sizes I choose other than 6400x6400 the editor crashes when I click "yes" to try to set and restart.  Anyone with any thoughts?

I must be doing something wrong, but I read the map editor tutorials before I even started to think about editing.  Let me know what's up.  Thanks!

Ok, will do.

I already have admin set and locked on.  I will try the compatibility settings, but I thought the had fixed the the Win 7 issues with this patch?  Maybe just a few issues then.  Anyway, I will try this out.  Thanks!

Edit: Tried compatibility settings, and still not working.  I can only make maps in 6400x6400.  I think this is a bug, but no one else seem to be having this issue.  Anyone else with this issue?

Wouldn't old custom maps cause it to crash when you try to load them, not when you change mapsize?

it may be related to old custom maps. haven't figured that one out. if you've got this problem, please try to isolate the problem by moving custom maps out of the directory one by one until the error is gone. if you know which map causes this error. please let me know.

Ok,

I can edit any map to any size, however I can not create my own map and edit it to any size.  I can not delete any existing maps (tell me how to do that, as the "delete map" option has been removed).  I deleted all maps when loading/installing the game.  Still no custom map resizing.  Any more thoughts?

Delet is easy, go into the map directory (bzn), select the map in question and press Delete on the keyboard.

Ok, well do.

Update;

DOCa Cola is correct.  There are certain maps that are either corrupted or have some issue with them preventing me to expand any map.  After clearing the bzn., The map editor is now working properly.  Any attempt to add the maps back, and I get an error.  That's ok.  I like making my own map campaigns for now.  Thanks for your quick and courteous responses!

Ok, after attempting to save a custom map, the game crashes.  The, I try to re-start the map editor and the editor crashes.  Can't make any maps so it seems.  Don't know what's up, but the editor just isn't working for me.

Update: I can not even play an instant mission now.  I can not build anything.  I try to build, but the game freezes.  Either 3.14 is porked, or I need to download again.

I'm having your last issue as well.  I make a map and save it and the game won't let me open map editor or 'Select Map' from ingame without crashing afterwards.  I have to go in and delete the new map I just made to get it working again.  Haven't tried actually playing and building something yet, but I'm guessing it's going to crash when I do.  Anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Update:  Just went ingame and tried building structures to see if it crashed, and to my surprise it didn't.  So at least I don't have that problem.

Regards,
-Grey

Hope this helps you :)

Star Trek Armada II: Fleet Operations - Problem with the editor
DOCa has just let me know that the map editor and map selection crashes come from custom maps with empty map descriptions (fixed for 3.1.5). In the meantime though these can be fixed using the command line parameters:

Quote
armada2.exe /edit "my map.bzn"

Hope that helps
