well i play Star Trek Armada II ALOT . i found your patch and i saw that it seemed to offer alot more than the original and so i downloaded it. everyone ran smoothly except the game. Upon playing a 2v2 instant game to test things there was EXTREME lag on a small 2v2 map. even when i push the graphics down to the lowest settings the lag is almost unplayable and gets worse in battles. (it even lags when im building stations!!!).

This lag is like a huge FPS drop. in armada II i NEVER lagged even on the crummy specs my laptop has to offer and its intel gma 950 video card with 224.0 avaliable video memory. Now armada II is not very graphically demanding however this mod seems to have changed that and my computer simply cannot handle it. how is that?

here are my specs :

now if my laptop could run armada II without problems, i dont know why it will not run this one without running it at around 10FPS =.=. any solutions or suggestions that does not say "BUY A NEW COMPUTER" because armada runs without lag without the patch.

FO has a lot higher requirements than AII, so buying a new computer is unfortunately your only hope. Using an integrated card is a guarantee for disaster with Fleet Ops I'm afraid  :(

Apparently it is possible, so listen to the advice from the people below me :)

I play FleetOps on my Laptop often. on lowest graphic settings and 800x640x32 i have no problems. and your Laptop is much stronger, so i dont know why you have problems.
My Laptop has:
Intel core duo 2x1,6GHz
512 MB RAM
Standard Graphic card use up to 128MB from Laptops RAM
XP Home SP3 with bricoPack VistaInspirat
DX9

hold on, i run fleet ops with a simlar system.

i have the 945gm chipset with the GMA 950, same as you

i started off with similar RAM to you, my processor is weaker than yours, you are running a core 2, i'm running core 1.

you're running a less resource hungry OS, winxp, i'm running vista, and i could still run fleet ops.

my laptop handled fleet ops fine with several AIs back then, now its even better as i upgraded RAM.

i think you have a different problem not a too little resources problem.

maybe you're running stuff in the background that you don't need. if you reinstall your OS and load fleet ops only it will be faster. try drop fleet ops resolution a bit as well. that might help.

If it's a guarantee, why do I play FO with an onboard Nvidia chip without lagging performance? The chip on my mainboard is from 2007 and I never had problems (except for the recent access violations since v. 3.1.0)

Ok, fine, it's mostly a guarantee in my experience. I guess I'm wrong though, so I will edit my post :) . Thanks for clarifying

Nothing to thank about

Why don't you have XP Service Pack 3??????

Also ... Your comp is about as strong as mine (I just upgraded to 1500 RAM though :D).  If you keep your resolution on xxx - xxx - 16 and not 32 I think you'll do better.

really sorry guys had to go out. Well... i dont know what exactly is wrong then. i think its my graphics driver.. it lacks certain things and so puts all the work on the CPU to compensate. but, i did look at task manager and the CPU usage was barely above 10%.

*EDIT* since i just re-installed windows i forgot to update my drivers to the latest version (which includes major tweaks and fixes) so i will try that now.
