Does AI ignore the techtree?

I remember that some 3 years ago or so the AI was ignoring the techtree by feature, so you could write anything into the AIP.
So as long as the AI built the station you could make it build any ship from that station without doing a single research required by the techtree.

Is this still the case? I really hope so :)

Yes, I believe the tech tree is strictly for the human player.

If you open up an odf of one of the construction for one of the races. You will notice at the end that at the end is listed the Maxed out starbase (ie. fed_starbase_DDWW). That is nowhere to be seen on the tech tree, making it 'invisible' to the human player when looking at the build list of the construction ship, but yet the AI can still build it.

The AI can be made to obey or disobey the tech tree stipulations.

int checkTechnologyAvailable = 0;

This means it ignores the tech tree

int checkTechnologyAvailable =1;

This means it does not ignore it
